NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Showtime)

Last time on The New Millennium, a new power duo formed in Minnesota, as Kevin Durant was drafted to join Kevin Garnett, while one broke apart in Los Angeles, as Shaquille O'Neal was traded to Dallas. How will these changes affect the 2007-2008 season?

Western Conference

1. Los Angeles Lakers(57-25)
2. Golden State Warriors(54-28)
3. Vancouver Grizzlies(46-36)
4. Los Angeles Clippers(44-38)
5. Portland Trail Blazers(43-39)
6. Sacramento Kings(41-41)
7. Minnesota Timberwolves(39-43)
8. San Antonio Spurs(39-43)
9. Seattle SuperSonics(36-46)
10. Dallas Mavericks(36-46)
11. New Orleans Pelicans(35-47)
12. Houston Rockets(35-47)
13. Denver Nuggets(33-49)
14. Phoenix Suns(28-54)
15. Utah Jazz(26-56)

The Lakers added Joe Johnson(18.4 ppg) and achieved their best finish since 2004, and the Warriors improved majorly thanks to the development of young Kyle Lowry(14 ppg, 6.6 apg). Further down the standings, Sacramento was carried by new MVP Chris Paul(21.3 ppg, 13.4 apg), and Minnesota and San Antonio just snuck in despite losing record. Dallas definitely lost that big trade, as Shaq(15.6 ppg, 9.7 rpg) continued to regress, and Phoenix just looked terrible all year. And Utah lost big in signing bust Thomas Augmon(9 ppg, 6.5 rpg), leaving them in dead last.

Eastern Conference

1. Chicago Bulls(57-25)
2. New Jersey Nets(53-29)
3. Charlotte Hornets(51-31)
4. Orlando Magic(51-31)
5. Indiana Pacers(50-32)
6. Toronto Raptors(46-36)
7. New York Knicks(44-38)
8. Boston Celtics(42-40)
9. Cleveland Cavaliers(40-42)
10. Atlanta Hawks(39-43)
11. Washington Wizards(39-43)
12. Philadelphia 76ers(37-45)
13. Milwaukee Bucks(34-48)
14. Miami Heat(28-54)
15. Detroit Pistons(27-55)

Chicago is still the best team in the East, but they need to start winning in the playoffs to be considered legit. The Nets played well and moved up, and the Hornets were spectacular thanks to new signing Ellis Rowland(15 ppg). The Knicks have finally made the playoffs, as have the Celtics, who have a new hero in LaMarcus Aldridge(16.4 ppg, 7.3 rpg). Cleveland and Atlanta were unlucky, as the East simply has too many good teams, and Philadelphia really struggled thanks to Allen Iverson's continued regression. Detroit is yet again in last place, but is still improving and will likely get a high draft pick.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Fractured)

Once again, it's time to reshape the rosters and present new stories for the next season, and we have an absolute doozy of a trade to open things up.

- The Los Angeles Lakers trade C Shaquille O'Neal(87 OVR), SF Chao Cowens(80 OVR), 2008 and 2010 1st round picks for SF Joe Johnson(90 OVR) and C Leroy Person(78 OVR)-

The Mavericks logjam as small forward is an issue I've been keeping an eye on, as Johnson has been benched for fellow 90 OVR Clifton Davenport. So I put Joe in the trade finder, and this popped up. After losing in the first round in back to back years, the Kobe and Shaq partnership is over. The Lakers did have to give up more in the deal, since Shaq is 35, but the prospect of getting Joe and his incredible shooting was more than worth it. The 25 year old Person will attempt to fill O'Neal's spot, though the Lakers did sign Shawn Bradley(72 OVR) for depth.

- The Dallas Mavericks trade PF Riczi Dugonics(78 OVR), PG Freddie Lambert(77 OVR) and 2009 2nd round pick to the Toronto Raptors for PF Orlando Barbosa(82 OVR) and SG Robin Watts(67 OVR)-

Looking to win now, Dallas now brings in Orlando Barbosa, who played well for Toronto in the playoffs last year but backs up star PF Anton Kozlov(85 OVR). They do get decent value back, but won't hold to Lambert for long, as they already have plenty of point guards.

- The Toronto Raptors trade PG Freddie Lambert(77 OVR) and 2012 2nd round pick to the Denver Nuggets for SF Garrett Davenport(77 OVR) and C Martin Lawrence(69 OVR)-

A simple trade, as Denver gets a younger point guard to help the aging Nick Van Exel and Toronto gets the 27 year old Davenport for depth off the bench.

- The Boston Celtics trade PG Lance Marks(84 OVR) to the Milwaukee Bucks for SG Michael Redd(84 OVR)-

Despite signing Jeff McInnis and Rafer Alston in free agency, the Bucks still clearly had a need at point guard. With Boston drafting Mike Conley, Marks no longer had a true roster spot. This is a like for like deal, with both guys 29 years old and on the final year of their contract.

- The Milwaukee Bucks trade PG Ion Calmuschi(77 OVR) and PF Garry Ball(77 OVR) to the Phoenix Suns for PF Brian Scalabrine(78 OVR), C Todd Cummings(70 OVR) and 2008 1st round pick-

The Bucks get rid of some depth to acquire Scalabrine, who was good for Phoenix last year and will start for Milwaukee, along with a 1st round pick that is top ten protected. In exchange, the Suns get Ball as a back-up, as well as the 23 year old Calmuschi, who has 81 Potential.

- The Los Angeles Clippers trade PF Drew Gooden(82 OVR) and PG Roland Snow(77 OVR) to the Atlanta Hawks for PG Devin Harris(86 OVR) and C Carson Rollins(74 OVR)-

With Channing Frye(80 OVR) disappointing as the starting power forward, and starting point Jay Williams(87 OVR) signed on to a 4 year extension, this trade makes a lot of sense for Atlanta. In Gooden, they get an excellent rebounder on a manageable 2 year deal, and the Clippers get a big upgrade at point guard over current starter Chauncey Billups(84 OVR). This trade is a gamble for LA, as Harris' contract is expiring, and they also gave up Snow, who has 84 Potential.

- The Los Angeles Clippers trade PG Chauncey Billups(84 OVR), SG Benjamin Price(77 OVR) and 2008 2nd round pick to the Vancouver Grizzlies for SG Gerald Green(79 OVR) and SF Wilson Chandler(72 OVR)-

The Grizzlies yet again needed a back up point guard, and trade for Billups, who's contract does expire at the end of the year. They do pay quite a bit for a back up of Billups' quality, as they give up former first round pick Gerald Green and recent pick up Wilson Chandler, who has 84 Potential.

- The Vancouver Grizzlies trade SG Ellis Sampson(78 OVR) and PF Will Mayo(75 OVR) to the Cleveland Cavaliers for SF Hakeem N'dour(77 OVR) and PF Dylan Strawberry(74 OVR)-

Vancouver acquired Sampson last year, but he barely played and was extremely unhappy. They had a hole at small forward and filled by trading for N'dour, who also barely played last year backing up Lamar Odom and Danny Granger.

- The Miami Heat trade SF Clayton Hardaway(77 OVR) to the Detroit Pistons for C Jacob McCormick(79 OVR) and 2011 2nd round pick-

Hardaway, a former second round pick, is talented but unhappy in Miami, and finds a new home in Detroit, who could sell of McCormick after just draft Joakim Noah(80 OVR, 89 Potential).

- The Detroit Pistons trade PG Damien Baxter(84 OVR) and SG Stan Shepard(79 OVR) to the Chicago Bulls for SG Arthur Stinson(84 OVR) and SF Shareef Abdur-Rahim(78 OVR)-

Baxter is stuck in a logjam at point guard, with Detroit already having Jameer Nelson(85 OVR) on the roster and is on an expiring deal, as is Shepard. The Bulls need a backup, and give up Stinson, who will start for Detroit but was behind Edwin Russell(85 OVR) and Lenny Park(85 OVR) in Chicago, as well as dumping Abdur-Rahim, who flopped miserably for them last year.

- The Utah Jazz trade SF Trevor Ariza(84 OVR) and PG Timmy Timmerman(74 OVR) to the Indiana Pacers for PG Jason Coles(80 OVR) and SF Edwin Jefferson(81 OVR)-

After Utah signed Thomas Augmon(85 OVR) in free agency, it was obvious Ariza was available. He will be a very good fit in Indiana, who need a replacement for the aging Jalen Rose(74 OVR). Timmerman can develop into a good back-up with his 79 Potential.

- The Sacramento Kings trade PG Jason Williams(80 OVR) and SG Andre Ellis(79 OVR) to the Minnesota Timberwolves for SG Wally Szczerbiak(82 OVR) and PG Mitchell Best(75 OVR)-

With Chris Paul(92 OVR) now well established, the King get rid of Williams and also packaged in Ellis to get Szcaerbiak, their new starting shooting guard. Williams will take the back-up point guard spot from Earl Boykins, though he does have an expiring contract.

- The Minnesota Timberwolves trade PG Earl Boykins(81 OVR) and C J.R. Lucas(73 OVR) to the Utah Jazz for C Zydrunas Ilgauskas(83 OVR)-

Minnesota now ships the disappointing Boykins off to Utah, who acquire another point guard. The Jazz will now start newly signed Darko Milicic at center, while Ilgauskas will be the starting center for the Timberwolves.

- The Orlando Magic trade SG Bar Petrovic(81 OVR) and 2008 2nd round pick to the New Orleans Pelicans for PG Adam Sellers(79 OVR) and C Dan Clintock(73 OVR)-

Orlando needed a back-up point guard, and New Orleans had Sellers to get rid of, as they hope to give more playing time to Daniel Gibson(79 OVR), who's currently extremely unhappy. The Pelicans get Petrovic, who's still signed for two more years and should provide quality depth.

- The New Jersey Nets trade Ira Newble(78 OVR) to the Toronto Raptors for SF Darius Miles(75 OVR) and 2011 2nd round pick-

Newble is a slight upgrade for Toronto, and New Jersey is happy to get rid of 11 million dollar contract, which is expiring.

- The Denver Nuggets trade C Raef LaFrentz(77 OVR) and PF Boyd Blake(77 OVR) to the Minnesota Timberwolves for PF Stanley Cotton(78 OVR), SF Greg Buckner(76 OVR) and 2008 2nd round pick-

Minnesota get a back-up to Ilgauskas in LaFrentz, who was behind 25 year old Vladimir Saric(82 OVR) and 27 year old Rex Murray(80 OVR) in Denver. The Nuggets, meanwhile, get a slight upgrade at power forward and an extra 2nd round pick.

- The New Orleans Pelicans trade PF Daryl Cartwright(76 OVR) and PG Bradley Norman(74 OVR) to the Houston Rockets for C Brevin Taylor(77 OVR) and PF Frankie Brown(74 OVR)-

Houston has tons of centers, and gets rid of one of them, mostly to get Norman, who has 80 Potential. New Orleans, meanwhile, needed more quality at center and got that.

- The Houston Rockets trade C Kelvin Beasley(79 OVR) and 2008 2nd round pick to the Golden State Warriors for PF Thaddeus Young(75 OVR) and SG Elton Patrick(69 OVR)-

The Warriors did just use the 15th pick to select Young, but they need a back-up center much more. So Houston gives up another of theirs to pick the 19 year old power forward, who has 85 Potential.

- The Seattle SuperSonics trade C Joel Przybilla(82 OVR) to the Cleveland Cavaliers for SG Anthony Johnson(76 OVR) and 2009 1st round pick-

Seattle just drafted Greg Oden(82 OVR, 88 Potential), so they have no need for Przybilla, while Cleveland needs a back-up to Yao Ming. Joel is a quality add for them, but they did have to give up a top ten protected 1st round pick.

That's it! Another huge amount of trades, but the AI in this game makes the stupidest decisions, so it's on me to go ahead and sort all of this out. Whether or not I do these posts in the future, I'm not sure, but I'll certainly keep making the moves. I'll see you tomorrow for the start of the 2007-2008 season.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Half Man Half Amazing)

Who will claim the ultimate prize and win the 2007 NBA Championship?

First Round

Out East, both the Raptors and Magic won in sweeps in the first round, setting up the fifth playoff match-up between both teams in The New Millennium. The defending champion Pacers pushed the Wizards hard, but Washington's defense stepped up, holding Indiana to just 70 to win the decisive Game 5. The Bulls playoff struggles continued, as Jason Richardson was excellent and Chicago went out in 4 games to New Jersey. In the West, the Warriors got one stellar performance after another from Carmelo Anthony, and were able to oust the top seeded Lakers in 5. In a rematch of last year's Western Conference Finals, the Suns got their revenge, taking out the Kings in 5 hard fought games. The Clippers swept the Grizzlies, and the Spurs got 50 combined points from Dwight Howard and Tim Duncan in Game 5 to survive Utah's upset bid.

Second Round

The Warriors' surprise run would end here, as the Suns would advance back to the Conference Finals thanks to Amar'e Stoudemire's 27 points in the decisive Game 6. The Clippers would also win in 6, as Pau Gasol hit the winner to take out the Spurs. In the East, Tracy McGrady was fantastic for the Magic, but the top seeded Raptors survived to also win in 6. 6 was also the magic number for the Nets, who got an unlikely 24 points from young Calbert Walton to punch their ticket.

Conference Finals

A Suns team with gold in their sights got some incredible performances from shooting guard Daryl Berry all series long against the Clippers, including 47 point in a Game 3 win. The Clippers did steal one win, but Phoenix closed it out in 5. Meanwhile, the Nets would go up 3-2 on the Raptors, heading home to New Jersey to punch their ticket to the Finals. But Vince Carter was having none of it, dropping 27 to win Game 6, then scoring a ridiculous 42 points to win Game 7 at home.

NBA Finals

Game 1 was a tight battle throughout, but Toronto got a boost from big man Anton Kozlov's 30 points to win by only 3. Game 2 was even closer, as the Suns would hold a late lead, only to watch Vince drill another game winner.

Now in Phoenix, Vince did not miss a beat. He added 34 more points, and the Raptors cruised to a 20 point win to put them one more win away from their first championship. In Game 4, Shawn Marion stepped up to save the Suns' season, scoring 20 big points and the series shifted back to Toronto.

Game 5, however, was all Vince Carter. He scored 16 points in the 1st quarter, and would finish with 36 for the game. And when Vince needed a break, Darius Miles came off the bench to lead a 4th quarter demolition, as a close game was turned into a 18 point blowout. For the first time, the Toronto Raptors are NBA Champions, and Vinsanity reigns supreme.

NBA Finals MVP: Vince Carter(27.8 ppg, 4,2 apg)

Congratulations to the Raptors, who had a phenomenal season wire to wire. From beating out the Bulls for the best record on the final day to taking out the Magic in the playoffs again, surviving in New Jersey and crushing the Suns, this was a more than deserving champion. Join us next time on The New Millennium for the 2007 offseason.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(We The North)

Last time on The New Millennium, teams adjusted their rosters following free agency and the Draft, and a big trade was struck that sent Zach Randolph to the Los Angeles Clippers. How will all of these moves affect the 2006-2007 regular season?

Eastern Conference

1. Toronto Raptors(58-24)
2. Chicago Bulls(58-24)
3. Washington Wizards(55-27)
4. Orlando Magic(50-32)
5. Philadelphia 76ers(49-33)
6. Indiana Pacers(46-36)
7. New Jersey Nets(44-38)
8. Milwaukee Bucks(43-39)
9. New York Knicks(42-40)
10. Atlanta Hawks(41-41)
11. Miami Heat(39-43)
12. Charlotte Hornets(33-49)
13. Cleveland Cavaliers(30-52)
14. Boston Celtics(22-60)
15. Detroit Pistons(21-61)

On an iconic final day showdown, the Raptors hosted the Bulls, needing to win to take the top spot in the East and the best record in the league. With time running out, Vince Carter did what he does best, hitting a game winning contested lay-up to give Toronto home court advantage throughout the playoffs. The Wizards improved majorly on defense this year to gain 13 extra wins, and the 76ers improved as well after adding Caron Butler(16.1 ppg). The depth of the conference saw good teams in New York and Atlanta just miss out, while Cleveland struggled without Zach Randolph. Boston just got out of last place, and Detroit ended up as the worst team in the league.

Western Conference

1. Los Angeles Lakers(53-29)
2. San Antonio Spurs(51-31)
3. Los Angeles Clippers(49-33)
4. Phoenix Suns(48-34)
5. Sacramento Kings(45-37)
6. Vancouver Grizzlies(43-39)
7. Utah Jazz(41-41)
8. Golden State Warriors(40-42)
9. New Orleans Pelicans(38-44)
10. Portland Trail Blazers(38-44)
11. Denver Nuggets(36-46)
12. Dallas Mavericks(33-49)
13. Minnesota Timberwolves(32-50)
14. Houston Rockets(29-53)
15. Seattle SuperSonics(23-59)

The Lakers were best in the West again, but how about the Spurs, who's frontcourt is fulfilling their potential with a great year from Dwight Howard(19.3 ppg, 12.4 rpg) and Tim Duncan winning MVP. And despite Zach Randolph's numbers regressing, the Clippers took a big step forward after acquiring, making the playoffs and looking like a legitimate contender. The Warriors, meanwhile, became the first team in The New Millennium to make the playoffs despite a losing record, and the Pelicans struggled without Caron Butler. The Trail Blazers missed the playoffs after their defense fell apart, the Timberwolves also struggled on defense. The Rockets continue their downward trajectory, and Seattle continues to lack quality talent.

Awards

MVP: Tim Duncan, San Antonio Spurs
Rookie of the Year: Rudy Gay, Detroit Pistons
Sixth Man: Lothar Meier, Portland Trail Blazers
Defensive Player: LeBron James, Atlanta Hawks
Most Improved: Radoslav Zagorac, Portland Trail Blazers
Coach of the Year: Sam Mitchell, Toronto Raptors

Interestingly, this was a big year for Toronto in real life, who finished third in the Eastern Conference and Mitchell was also named Coach of the Year. That team was knocked out by the Nets in the first round, and they would quickly regress. Can this version of the Raptors get redemption and win the franchise's first NBA Championship? Find out next time on The New Millennium!

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Deadline Day)

Today is something a little different for The New Millennium, as I have spent several hours tinkering with all 30 rosters, trying to get them to a place that would make logical sense for their specific team. Keep in mind that none of this is intended to be realistic, just more intelligent. After reporting each move, I've tried to explain why I personally think it makes sense for the team and helps both sides, so hopefully you can understand my process of thought. Let's get started!

(Henry's Note- I ended up going into a lot of detail in this post, so it's incredibly long, but still worth reading if you want to know a lot more about the roster composition of lots of different teams)

- The Philadelphia 76ers trade C Kenneth Levingston(81 OVR) and 2009 1st round pick to the Golden State Warriors for PG Brevin Knight(82 OVR)-

After losing Andre Miller in free agency, the 76ers only had 28 year old Billy Osborne(78 OVR) left on the roster to man the offense. The Warriors, meanwhile, already have Jermaine Ramsey(84 OVR) on their roster, and just used the 11th overall pick to select Kyle Lowry(77 OVR, 89 Potential). The Warriors, however, did not have a center above a 75 OVR, and the 76ers do have Cole Wallace(77 OVR) to replace Levingston. Therefore, this trade made sense for both sides, each getting help at a position of need, with a lower tier pick tossed in for good measure.

- The Detroit Pistons trade PG Bob Gatling(79 OVR) and 2009 2nd round pick to the San Antonio Spurs for SF Nelson Cassell(81 OVR)-

With a plethora of talent at the point, including Jameer Nelson(84 OVR), Damien Baxter(83 OVR) and Anders Fredriksson(79 OVR), Detroit could easily afford to get rid of Gatling. Cassell will provide an extra weapon off the bench for them, and the Spurs get a back-up for the aforementioned Andre Miller.

- The Milwaukee Bucks trade SG Andre Ellis(78 OVR) and 2011 2nd round pick to the Sacramento Kings for PG Trent Samuels(78 OVR)-

With franchise centerpiece Chris Paul(89 OVR) and veteran Jason Williams(81 OVR) on the roster, the Kings absolutely did not need Samuels. Ellis will provide good 3 point shooting off the bench, and I threw in a second round pick because Ellis is 28 and Samuels is 27. For the Bucks, Samuels will fill in as an adequate back-up for 37 year old Sam Cassell(80 OVR), and they had tons of talent on the wing anyways.

- The Minnesota Timberwolves trade SF Bojan Bogdanovic(74 OVR) and PG Cam Bonner(70 OVR) to the Boston Celtics for PG Earl Boykins(82 OVR)-

This trade may not make 100 percent sense for Minnesota, as they already 25 year old Brook Perry(85 OVR) at the point, so Boykins is somewhat unnecessary. But what Boykins does provide is an excellent option off the bench, as Minnesota is not a very deep team. For the Celtics, Bogdanovic(86 Potential) is a big acquisition, but he's still a long term project, probably a couple year away. Ultimately, Boykins is better right now for Minnesota, who are contending, while Bogdanovic is better for the Celtics, who are in the midst of a rebuild.

- The Los Angeles Clippers trade PF Lamar Odom(83 OVR), PG Jeff McInnis(80 OVR), and PF Marvin Williams(84 OVR) for PF Zach Randolph(87 OVR), PG Roland Snow(73 OVR) and C Alton Karl(70 OVR)-

This is a big trade, so it's going to take a lot to break it down. The Clippers have really struggled these last few years, and I wanted to give them a third big star behind Dwayne Wade(93 OVR) and Pau Gasol(91 OVR). Randolph is certainly that, though they had to give up a lot for one of the best power forwards in the NBA. McInnis was added for salary reason, but Odom could be big for the Cavaliers, as they will move him to small forward, giving him a 5 OVR increase. Williams is the most interesting part of this trade. After being drafted 3rd overall last year, he didn't play at all for the Clippers, and his morale dropped to 0. The Clippers then selected Paul Millsap(77 OVR, 87 Potential) this year, making him incredibly expendable. Willams should get a chance in Cleveland, and getting rid of Randolph makes the Cavaliers even more reliant on Paul Pierce(90 OVR), which was intended as I feel he needs a bigger role to starting winning more games.

- The Vancouver Grizzlies trade PF Kurt Thomas(77 OVR) and PF Dylan Strawberry(73 OVR) to the Cleveland Cavaliers for PG Dwight Pope(74 OVR) and PG Troy Hudson(72 OVR)-

Cleveland makes a second move, adding the 35 year old Thomas for practically nothing to back up Marvin Williams. Pope isn't fantastic, but the Grizzlies will hope he can turn into a decent back up option for star Mike Bibby(88 OVR).

- The Charlotte Hornets trade SG Damon Jones(80 OVR) to the Sacramento Kings for PF Ross Schmidt(78 OVR) and 2011 2nd round pick-

The Hornets desperately needed a power forward, with only 26 year old Dee Meyer(75 OVR) on the roster. They have tons of talent at shooting guard, including J.R. Smith(82 OVR) and Jud Lyles(81 OVR). The Kings needed depth at the shooting guard position and now have it in the 31 year old Jones and the previously acquired Andre Ellis.

- The New York Knicks trade PF Rick Stinson(75 OVR) to the Detroit Pistons for 2008 and 2010 second round picks-

The Pistons did not have a back up for starter Tim Thomas(80 OVR) and get a decent addition in the 28 year old Stinson, and the Knicks will appreciate some extra picks. Simple trade.

- The Indiana Pacers trade PG Quinn Park(79 OVR) to the Los Angeles Lakers for PG Otis Murray(70 OVR), PG Dorell Moncrief(72 OVR), 2009 and 2011 second round picks-

This is a big trade for Indiana, as Park was the starting point guard for most of last season, until playoff hero Dexter Collinsworth(77 OVR, 80 Potential) took over. With Collinsworth's emergence, Park no longer had a role on the team, and they get decent value back, with the main prize being Murray(80 Potential). With starter Derek Fisher(78 OVR) now 33 and in the last year of his deal, the Lakers picked up Park for guys they weren't planning on using. He should help them continue to contend and is still signed for 3 more years, offering long term benefits.

- The Houston Rockets trade SG Allan Houston(78 OVR) and PG Freddie Lambert(76 OVR) to the Dallas Mavericks for SG Alvin Williams(77 OVR) and C Kelvin Beasley(77 OVR)-

The Rockets needed a center, and the Mavericks needed a back up point guard. Houston gets the 23 year old Beasley, who will start right away, and Dallas gets the 27 year old Lambert, who will be a good back up for Steve Nash(89 OVR) until first round pick Wes Carney(74 OVR, 84 Potential) is ready. Allan Houston and Alvin Williams are a like for like swap, with Houston slightly better but also 35, two years older than Williams.

- The Seattle SuperSonics trade PG Rafer Alston(79 OVR) to the Los Angeles Clippers for SF Bruce Bowen(81 OVR)-

After selecting Rajon Rondo(78 OVR, 89 Potential) second overall, Seattle was more than willing to ship off the 31 year old Alston. The Clippers get rid of the 35 year old Bowen, who is still good but barely played, to get Alston, but they had no intentions of keeping him.

- The Los Angeles Clippers trade PG Rafer Alston(79 OVR) and C Alton Karl(70 OVR) to the Chicago Bulls for SF Ruben Patterson(78 OVR) and 2008 second round pick-

Former Sixth Man of the Year Ruben Patterson was the odd man out in Chicago, and is now 32 years old. He provides excellent defense off the bench, but the Clippers will have to deal with his expiring contract. Meanwhile, the Bulls get Alston, an excellent back up for 26 year old starter Jamal Crawford(83 OVR).

- The Chicago Bulls trade SG Aaron McKie(81 OVR) and SG Ellis Sampson(72 OVR) to the Vancouver Grizzlies for SF Shareef Abdur-Rahim(80 OVR)-

Despite scoring over 15 points a year in the entirety of The New Millennium, Abdur-Rahim was benched last year by the Grizzlies in favor of 26 year old Courtney Cheeks(79 OVR), who offered much better defense. The 34 year old McKie was down the pecking order in Chicago, and now gets his shot to be the sixth man in Vancouver. Abdur-Rahim will attempt to replace both McKie and Patterson in Chicago, and will continue to get paid, still owed 52 million dollars for the next two years.

So that's everything. Again, this was a super long post, filled with tons of detail, and there are still plenty of teams who I didn't adjust the roster for. The plan is to make this a yearly thing, since the AI on this game doesn't manage these teams the way I would like it to.  I don't know if I'll be making this many moves every year, I guess we'll have to wait and see. Hopefully you weren't bored and enjoyed my breakdown of everything I did, and I'll see you again soon for the start of the 2006-2007 season.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Beantown)

Last time on The New Millennium, the Indiana Pacers were finally crowned NBA Champions on their fourth attempt, besting the surprise team of the West in the Sacramento Kings. Now, the offseason is upon us and changes are coming.

Player Retirements

Biding farewell to the NBA this year were Shawn Kemp, Kenny Anderson, Rick Fox, Robert Horry, Penny Hardaway and Darrell Armstrong. No players would make the Hall of Fame this year.

Draft Lottery

The big winners were Boston this year, who would claim the first overall pick. Seattle got pick number two, Detroit fell to third and the Clippers and Heat round out the top five.

Switching teams in free agency were:

SF Caron Butler(87 OVR), Philadelphia 76ers, 4 years, 124 million dollars
PG Andre Miller(86 OVR), San Antonio Spurs, 3 years, 93 million dollars
SF Richie Jackson(83 OVR), Milwaukee Bucks, 3 years, 62 million dollars

C Jamaal Magloire(78 OVR), Golden State Warriors, 2 years, 9 million dollars
C Zaza Pachulia(77 OVR), Houston Rockets, 2 years, 21 million dollars

Way Too Early Predictions

Switching things up, let's look at what Marc Spears predicts for next year. He has Orlando, Atlanta, San Antonio, Sacramento and Golden State in his top five, all of whom do have young cores and could improve. The Bulls and Lakers are low in the top ten, and Minnesota is all the way in the bottom ten. Also near the bottom are the 76ers, even despite adding Caron Butler in free agency, and he believes the Boston could be one of the worst teams again next year, despite picking LaMarcus Aldridge first overall.

2007 Draft Preview

Kevin Durant is the big prize next year, projected to go first overall and has obviously been a massive star in real life. This should be a great class for big men, with Al Horford, Greg Oden, Marc Gasol and Joakim Noah all available. There is a general lack of quality big men in the league in The New Millennium, so lots of teams will be very excited.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(About Damn Time)

Last time on The New Millennium, the Chicago Bulls were once again the best team in the regular season, and now look to actually deliver a championship to their loyal fans. The West has seen a huge influx of new contenders, but they also must contend with MVP Kobe Bryant and his Lakers. Who will lay claim to the 2006 NBA Championship?

First Round

In an unbelievable upset, the West lost their top seed immediately, as young Chris Paul led his Kings to victory in four games, ousting the Lakers. They'll take on the Timberwolves next, as Minnesota breezed past the Trail Blazers. Unfortunately, the Pelicans will not be making any sort of playoff run, falling to the Grizzlies in four. For the final spot, the Suns and Spurs duked it out, going all the way to a Game 5, where Dwight Howard dropped 32 in a double overtime thriller, only for Amar'e Stoudemire to hit the winner to send Phoenix through. In the East, the Bulls and Pacers had minimal problems in advancing to face each other, taking out Atlanta and New Jersey. Despite Vince Carter scoring 30 in Game 5, Tracy McGrady hit the winner to send Orlando through. The Wizards pushed the Bucks all the way to five despite struggles from Dirk, but came up short in the upset attempt.

Second Round

This was a battle of attrition for everyone, as all four second round series would go seven games. Somehow, someway, the Kings took down the Timberwolves, as Peja Stojakovic and Chris Paul would engineer a comeback to win Game 7. The Suns would join them, using excellent defense from veteran Jason Kidd to take out the Grizzlies. Out East, Jermaine O'Neal continues to cement his legacy, forcing big turnovers late against the Bulls to lead the Pacers back to the Eastern Conference Finals. Joining them would be the Bucks, who got 60 combined points from Ray Allen, Michael Redd and Luol Deng to win Game 7 by 4.

Conference Finals

The team of destiny are without a doubt the Sacramento Kings, who would quickly take a 3-0 lead. Darryl Berry and Amar'e Stoudemire fought hard to get the Suns back into the series, winning two straight games, but big man Jimmie Owens took over in Game 6, scoring nineteen points, grabbing thirteen rebound and blocking five shots to get the win. The Bucks looked primed to join them, coming so close to eliminating the Pacers on multiple occasions. But young point guard Dexter Collinsworth took over, forcing a Game 7 and then dropping 26 points en route to another trip to the Finals.

NBA Finals

Trying to avoid losing in their third Finals in The New Millennium and their second in a row, the Pacers came out firing in Game 1, as Justin Galloway scored 37 for the win at home. It was more of the same in Game 2, as Chris Paul missed three after three and Indiana cruised to an easy win.

Game 3 in Sacramento was more of the same, as the Kings scored a dismal 77 points and lost by nearly 40, as Collinsworth put up 24. Facing elimination, the Kings played well in Game 4, as Chris Webber would force several turnovers and Sacramento would even hold a late lead. But Galloway would take over, hitting several big shots over the inexperienced and outmatched Chris Paul, and the Pacers won by seven. On their third try, fourth since 2000, the Indiana Pacers have won their very first NBA Championship!

NBA Finals MVP: Jermaine O'Neal(16.3 ppg, 12 rpg, 2.8 blkpg)

Finally, through all the pain and heartbreak, the Indiana Pacers are NBA Champions to the first time, though you do have to give props to the Kings, who had a miraculous playoff run. Join us next time on The New Millennium for the offseason, as several big names do have expiring contracts, and the draft pool does posses some future superstars.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(New Generation)

Last time on The New Millennium, the Kings got their franchise centerpiece in point guard Chris Paul, while teams like the Cavaliers, Celtics and Jazz spent big money in free agency. Will these moves help these franchises move up the standings? How will the defending champion Houston Rockets fare? Let's find out.

Eastern Conference

1. Chicago Bulls(58-24)
2. Milwaukee Bucks(50-32)
3. Orlando Magic(49-33)
4. New Jersey Nets(44-38)
5. Indiana Pacers(44-38)
6. Toronto Raptors(42-40)
7. Washington Wizards(42-40)
8. Atlanta Hawks(42-40)
9. Philadelphia 76ers(41-41)
10. Cleveland Cavaliers(39-43)
11. New York Knicks(38-44)
12. Charlotte Hornets(34-48)
13. Miami Heat(33-49)
14. Boston Celtics(22-60)
15. Detroit Pistons(21-61)

Yet again, the best team is in the East, and yet again, that team is the Bulls who almost had another 60 win campaign. They still lack star power, but did have six players average double digit scoring, leading them to the best point per game team in the NBA. Tracy McGrady managed to carry his Magic back to the playoffs for yet another match-up with Vince Carter and the Raptors, as did young LeBron for his Hawks. The logjam at the bottom of the playoffs saw talented teams in Philly and Cleveland miss out, and the Detroit Pistons round out the standings, the only team in the entire league to average under 100 points a game.

Western Conference

1. Los Angeles Lakers(53-29)
2. Phoenix Suns(52-30)
3. Vancouver Grizzlies(51-31)
4. Minnesota Timberwolves(50-32)
5. Portland Trail Blazers(49-33)
6. New Orleans Pelicans(48-34)
7. San Antonio Spurs(46-36)
8. Sacramento Kings(43-39)
9. Utah Jazz(41-41)
10. Golden State Warriors(38-44)
11. Houston Rockets(38-44)
12. Denver Nuggets(36-46)
13. Dallas Mavericks(28-54)
14. Los Angeles Clippers(28-54)
15. Seattle SuperSonics(25-57)

The West is stacked this year, as the Lakers just managed to stay ahead of the pack, as Kobe Bryant(29.4 ppg) won his second MVP. The Suns added Ben Wallace and moved up to second, and the Grizzlies learned the art of defense to get back to the playoffs. Minnesota got a crazy year from Wally Szczerbiak(16.7 ppg) to also make the playoffs, and take a look at who's in sixth. That's right, after years of losing, the New Orleans Pelicans are a playoff team! I feel like a proud father, what an awesome turnaround. Perennial losers like the Spurs and Kings also made it, and all this new talent, saw Denver and defending champs Houston capsize and fall down the standings. All this change still can't get the Clippers into the playoffs, despite possessing two legitimate superstars in Dwayne Wade and Pau Gasol, as they had the worst defense in the league.

Awards

MVP: Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers
Rookie of the Year: Chris Paul, Sacramento Kings
Sixth Man: Richie Jackson, Denver Nuggets
Defensive Player: LeBron James, Atlanta Hawks
Most Improved: Yao Ming, Cleveland Cavaliers
Coach of the Year: Scott Skiles, Chicago Bulls

Can the Bulls actually win a championship this year? Will any of these new young teams be able to make a serious playoff push? Find out next time on The New Millennium!

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Big Tomato)

Last time on The New Millennium, the Houston Rockets were crowned NBA Champions for the first time since 1995, as the Indiana Pacers suffered their third Finals defeat since the turn of the millennium. Now, the offseason is upon us and changes are coming.

Player Retirements

This year, we bid farewell to the likes of Karl Malone, Vlade Divac, Elden Campbell, Glen Rice, Derrick Coleman, Nick Anderson, Antonio Davis and Christian Laettner. Malone was inducted into the Hall of Fame again, for some reason.

Draft Lottery

With the best odds, the Kings would take the first pick, which will likely be Chris Paul. The Trail Blazers, via a trade from Charlotte, got the second pick, with the Clippers again in the top three. The Heat and SuperSonics will round out the top five.

C Emeka Okafor(78 OVR), Charlotte Hornets, 3 years, 41 million dollars
PG Tyronn Lue(78 OVR), Utah Jazz, 2 years, 10 million dollars

Way Too Early Predictions

We've apparently got some change upcoming, as Orlando, San Antonio and Golden State top NBA.com's power rankings for next season. Young teams like the Kings and Pelicans are expected to do well, and the Clippers are still in the top fifteen. The Cavaliers, Celtics and Jazz are not predicted to succeed despite big spending sprees, and especially not Seattle, who are projected to be the worst team in basketball.

2006 Draft Preview

Finishing off today's post, let's take a look at next year's draft class, which features two two point guards in Kyle Lowry and Rajon Rondo. If you want a big man, LaMarcus Aldridge and Paul Millsap offer different skillsets inside. If you want a wing scorer, there's also Rudy Gay and J.J. Redick, so this draft should offer a lot of options to any team.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Clutch City)

Last time on The New Millennium, the Chicago Bulls rose to power, winning sixty-two games to become the best team in the NBA, whilst the reigning champion Lakers fell all the way to sixth place. Who will become the 2005 NBA Champions?

First Round

In the East, the Bulls had no trouble against the Pistons and the Raptors smacked around the young LeBron James, as both teams won in sweeps to face each other. The Bucks throttled the 76ers, and the Pacers used their veteran experience to oust the Nets in four games. In the West, the Nuggets fell apart offensively, and the Jazz would take them down in a big upset. Portland would dismantle the young Suns, setting them up against Utah. Despite being the lower seed, the Lakers were anything but underdogs, frustrating Carmelo Anthony through a tough five game series, eventually taking the Warriors out. Finally, the Timberwolves got off to a great start against the Rockets, taking a 2-0 lead, but Houston would battle back, with Richard Jefferson dropping 26 in the decisive Game 5 to survive the potential upset.

Second Round

Houston was in for another battle in the second round, as both they and the Lakers would go the distance yet again. In Game 7, the Rockets held Shaq and Kobe to a combined 33 points, Steve Francis had a double-double and Houston punched their ticket to the Western Conference Finals. Joining them would be the Trail Blazers, who were able to hold the young Jazz duo of Richie Jackson and Brett Moran in check to win in 6. In the East, the Bulls cruised, losing only one game to the Raptors. The Pacers would be their next opponent, winning in the decisive Game 6 thanks to an incredible 35 point performance from young Justin Galloway.

Conference Finals

The Bulls lack of star power would hurt them big time against the Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals. Facing elimination in Game 6 in Indiana, Chicago pushed it to overtime, where Pacers center Jermaine O'Neal took over, dominating in the post en route to another shot at a championship. Houston didn't have the same problem, as their star, Steve Francis, came to play, roasting young Shaun Livingston time and time again, dropping 24 in Game 6 to send his team to the Finals.

NBA Finals

Game 1 was an easy Rockets victory, as Francis put up 23 and Jefferson had several crucial steals. Despite Francis putting up a double-double in Game 2, the Pacers would steal the win, as Raja Bell scored 15 points off the bench in a narrow 1 point victory.

Houston responded with a vengeance in Game 3, holding the Pacers to just 74 points in an easy win. Game 4 was close to start, but Allan Houston took over in the 2nd quarter, finishing with 19 points to put the Rockets one win away from the title.

Game 5 was all Houston early, as the Rockets had a double digit halftime lead. But Indiana stayed composed, and O'Neal forced several big turnovers late, as the Pacers would win by 6 to keep their season alive.

Game 6 was more of the same, as Houston held a double digit lead only to watch the Pacers make a late comeback. This time, though, the Rockets got a few stops, and clutch free throws from Cuttino Mobley and Steve Francis, as well as a late three from Richard Jefferson would seal it. For the first time since the mid-90's, the Rockets are champions of the world, and the Pacers came up short in yet another NBA Finals, their second Finals defeat in The New Millennium.

NBA Finals MVP: Steve Francis(21 ppg, 6.3 apg, 2.3 spg)

With the majority of the team still young, and only Jefferson not under currently signed on long term, the Rockets should be able to stay a contender going forward. Up next is the offseason, with several quality young players out of contract and a draft class that includes Chris Paul.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Horns Up)

Last time on The New Millennium, lower teams in the Western Conference added talent, as the Pelicans drafted Andre Igoudala and the Spurs got a steal in Dwight Howard. With the likes of Dwayne Wade and Carmelo Anthony already in the conference, will anyone be able to challenge the Lakers?

Western Conference

1. Denver Nuggets(47-35)
2. Houston Rockets(46-36)
3. Golden State Warriors(44-38)
4. Phoenix Suns(43-39)
5. Portland Trail Blazers(43-39)
6. Los Angeles Lakers(43-39)
7. Minnesota Timberwolves(41-41)
8. Utah Jazz(41-41)
9. Dallas Mavericks(40-42)
10. San Antonio Spurs(37-45)
11. New Orleans Pelicans(36-46)
12. Vancouver Grizzlies(35-47)
13. Seattle SuperSonics(33-49)
14. Los Angeles Clippers(29-53)
15. Sacramento Kings(27-55)

The West was wide open this year, with the top six teams only separated by four games. This lead to Denver claiming the top spot, and the Lakers and their struggling bench had their worst year thus far. One of the biggest stories of the year was the incredible performance of Carmelo Anthony(26.7 ppg, 8 rpg, 4.1 apg), who led the Warriors to the playoffs and became the youngest MVP in NBA history. The Timberwolves just snuck into the playoffs, mainly thanks to new addition Darius Miles, whilst the eight-seeded Jazz were led by another new star, Brett Moran(23 ppg, 1st time All-Star). The Spurs improved slightly with new rookie Dwight Howard, and the Pelicans continued their ascent up the standings. The Clippers disappointed big time, only winning eight games on the road, and the Kings somehow lost fourteen in a row to end the season as the worst team in basketball.

Eastern Conference

1. Chicago Bulls(62-20)
2. Milwaukee Bucks(52-30)
3. New Jersey Nets(49-33)
4. Toronto Raptors(49-33)
5. Atlanta Hawks(47-35)
6. Indiana Pacers(46-36)
7. Philadelphia 76ers(44-38)
8. Detroit Pistons(42-40)
9. New York Knicks(41-41)
10. Orlando Magic(39-43)
11. Washington Wizards(39-43)
12. Boston Celtics(38-44)
13. Cleveland Cavaliers(35-47)
14. Charlotte Hornets(33-49)
15. Miami Heat(29-53)

The Bulls dominated this year, shutting teams down with their aggressive and tenacious defense. The Bucks massively improved with new rookie Luol Deng, and LeBron was able to lead his Hawks to the playoffs for the first time in this alternate reality. The 76ers struggled after their Finals loss, slipping to seventh, whilst the Pistons just snuck into the playoffs, narrowly edging out the Knicks and their quality young guard Colin Braun(22.8 ppg, 5.7 apg). The Magic missed out on the playoffs, as Grant Hill has massively regressed the past few years, and the Cavaliers were the victim of the tough Central division. Rounding out the East are the Heat, who do have a good young star in Julio McDaniels(18.3 ppg), but lack quality at most positions.

Awards

MVP: Carmelo Anthony, Golden State Warriors
Rookie of the Year: Anton Kozlov, Toronto Raptors
Sixth Man: Jamal Mashburn, Charlotte Hornets
Defensive Player: LeBron James, Atlanta Hawks
Most Improved: Ulf Nojowitz, Philadelphia 76ers
Coach of the Year: Scott Skiles, Chicago Bulls

With the Lakers no longer a heavy favorite, can a new power emerge in the West? Do the Bulls, lacking any true star, have what it takes to win their first championship since 1998? Find out next time on The New Millennium!

Player Retirements

Those biding farewell to the NBA this year included Scottie Pippen, Steve Kerr, Reggie Miller, Rod Strickland, Mark Jackson, Sean Elliott, Danny Manning, Tim Hardaway, Gary Payton, Larry Johnson and Toni Kukoc. Pippen was the only player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Draft Lottery

Finally, after three years, the New Orleans Pelicans have won the lottery, earning the first pick in the draft. The Hawks will pick second, followed by the Spurs, Timberwolves and the Pistons round out the top five.

Way Too Early Predictions

NBA.com has a major west coast bias this year, with the Lakers, Clippers, Warriors, Grizzlies and Suns predicted to be the top five next year. The Spurs are projected to rebound, and the Pelicans and Timberwolves are in the top fifteen, as are the Hornets. The Bucks and Celtics are projected to the worst in the NBA next year, which could be good news for Boston at least, as potential franchise savior Chris Paul awaits in the draft pool.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Downer Ending)

Last time on The New Millennium, Kobe Bryant began to establish himself as the best player of this generation, winning the MVP and leading the Lakers to the best record in the league. Who will claim the ultimate prize in the 2004 NBA Playoffs? It's time to find out.

First Round

Out west, the Lakers had no problems, beating Dallas by double digits in all three games of their sweep. Portland shut down the young Suns in another sweep, Utah used their experience to oust the Rockets and Denver narrowly survived in a rematch with Seattle. In the east, the 76ers got the job done, sweeping the Bulls to get their first playoff series win in this alternate reality. Yao Ming give Alonzo Mourning and the Heat plenty of issues, but Miami won in four, whilst former champs Orlando used some playoff magic to overturn a 2-0 deficit to eliminate the Nets in five. Toronto easily took out a lackluster Pacers squad to set up another match-up with the Magic in the second round.

Second Round

The 76ers kept rolling, losing only one game to the Heat. The Raptors and Magic pushed each other to the limit in their rubber match, going all the way to seven games. In Game 7, Vince Carter dropped 44 and Grant Hill missed all seven of his shots to pit the Raptors against the 76ers. Portland gave the Lakers all they could handle, overturning a 3-0 deficit before Shaq took charge in Game 7 to oust the feisty Trail Blazers. Joining LA would be the Jazz, who got a major upset over the Nuggets in yet another seven game battle.

Conference Finals

Toronto's dreams of their first championship were dashed quickly, as Philadelphia took them out in a swift five games. Young Richie Jackson, who had put together a great playoff run already, helped the Jazz push the Lakers all the way to their limit again. But in Game 7, Shaq and Kobe came to play, combining for 46 points and earning another shot at a title.

NBA Finals

In Game 1, Allen Iverson struggled, and the Shaq and Kobe duo were dominant, this time going for 57. Game 2 was a blowout, as Iverson put up 25 but had no help, whilst veteran Kevin Ollie had nice minutes off the bench and the Lakers cruised to a 28 point win.

Game 3 was a very close affair, and it was LA's three point shooting that was the difference, with Kobe nailing the winning three with seconds on the clock. In Game 4, with Kobe fouled out, Ollie couldn't handle AI, who went off for 41 points. But it was all for naught, as Ollie and Derek Fisher got the job done, and the Lakers lifted another world championship.

NBA Finals MVP: Kobe Bryant(24.8 ppg, 5 apg, .565 FG%)

Kobe continues to cement his legacy as one of the best to ever do it, winning both the regular season and Finals MVPs. For Philadelphia, after three years of disappointment and heartbreak, they finally put together a playoff run only to get demolished in the end, another tough end to the year. With Allen Iverson now turning 30 years old, how much more time do the 76ers have? Next time on The New Millennium, big names test the market and new stars enter the league.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Fresh Beef)

Last time on The New Millennium, Atlanta got their franchise player in LeBron James, the Warriors brought back Antwan Jamison and drafted Carmelo Anthony, the Clippers added Dwayne Wade to their young core and AI got help in Philly in the form of Andre Miller. How will all of these moves effect the 2003-2004 season?

Eastern Conference

1. Philadelphia 76ers(54-28)
2. Toronto Raptors(51-31)
3. New Jersey Nets(48-34)
4. Miami Heat(48-34)
5. Cleveland Cavaliers(47-35)
6. Orlando Magic(46-36)
7. Indiana Pacers(46-36)
8. Chicago Bulls(43-39)
9. Boston Celtics(41-41)
10. Milwaukee Bucks(40-42)
11. Charlotte Hornets(38-44)
12. Washington Wizards(36-46)
13. New York Knicks(32-50)
14. Detroit Pistons(29-53)
15. Atlanta Hawks(17-65)

We start in the East this year, where most of the familiar faces are back for another run. The most surprising team to make it where the Miami Heat, who have a lacking roster overall but got a career year from Alonzo Mourning(16.1 ppg, 12.4 rpg, 3 blkpg). A surprising name to miss out where the Bucks, who were trying to re-sign Ray Allen all year, and were forced to free up cap space by trading big man Tim Thomas to Indiana. LeBron was the Rookie of the Year, but failed to get the Hawks out of the cellar.

Western Conference

1. Los Angeles Lakers(57-25)
2. Denver Nuggets(52-30)
3. Houston Rockets(51-31)
4. Portland Trail Blazers(46-36)
5. Phoenix Suns(46-36)
6. Utah Jazz(45-37)
7. Seattle SuperSonics(41-41)
8. Dallas Mavericks(41-41)
9. Los Angeles Clippers(39-43)
10. Sacramento Kings(37-45)
11. Vancouver Grizzlies(37-45)
12. San Antonio Spurs(36-46)
13. Golden State Warriors(36-46)
14. New Orleans Pelicans(25-57)
15. Minnesota Timberwolves(25-57)

All Hail the Black Mamba. Kobe Bryant is the true face of the Lakers, winning his first MVP and leading the team to the best record in the NBA, as Shaq continues to regress. The Rockets had a great year, and the Suns finally made the playoffs, thanks to Jason Kidd and young Amar'e Stoudemire. Aging teams in Utah and Seattle held off the young newcomers, including the Clippers, who just can't fulfill their massive potential. And hey, the Pelicans are no longer the worst team in the west! Despite another great year from Kevin Garnett, the Timberwolves fell to rock bottom, and will desperately need help in the Draft.

Awards

(Henry's Note- I got the Rookie of the Year working, so that award will now be counted)

Rookie of the Year: LeBron James, Atlanta Hawks
Sixth Man: Donyell Marshall, Utah Jazz
Defensive Player: Kevin Garnett, Minnesota Timberwolves
Most Improved: Edmund Cooper, Charlotte Hornets

With the addition of Andre Miller, the 76ers are once again atop the Eastern Conference. Can they finally win a playoff series on their fourth attempt? Can Kobe cement his legacy with his third ring? Can the Nuggets defend their championship? Find out next time on The New Millennium!

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Chosen One)

Last time on The New Millennium, the Denver Nuggets joined the Orlando Magic as first time NBA Champions, defeating the seemingly unstoppable Indiana Pacers. But now, the offseason is upon us, and brings with it an incredible draft class with some of the most promising rookies ever.

Player Retirements

The retirements this year included Kevin Willis, Charles Oakley, Dell Curry, Avery Johnson, Hersey Hawkins, Mitch Richmond, Ron Harper, David Robinson, Dan Majerle, Vernon Maxwell, John Starks, Dikembe Mutombo, Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf and Arvydas Sabonis. Robinson was inducted into the Hall of Fame, as well as Karl Malone, which is odd considering he hasn't retired.

Draft Lottery

I'm beginning to think there's a conspiracy against the Pelicans, as for the third year in a row, in spite of being the worst team in basketball, they didn't win the lottery. Instead, the Hawks will pick first, the Warriors jumped up to second, the Clippers won big, jumping to third, and the Pelicans fell to fourth, with the Knicks selecting fifth.

2003 NBA Draft

1. SF LeBron James, Atlanta Hawks
2. SF Carmelo Anthony, Golden State Warriors
3. SG Dwyane Wade, Los Angeles Clippers
4. PF David West, New Orleans Pelicans
5. PF Nick Collison, New York Knicks
6. SG Lenny Park, Chicago Bulls(generated player)
7. SF Toni Petrovic, San Antonio Spurs(generated player)
8. PG Bob Gatling, Detroit Pistons(generated player)
9. SF Bert Felder, Boston Celtics(generated player)
10. SF Chase Hanson, Houston Rockets(generated player)
11. PG Jalen Kelly, Utah Jazz(generated player)
12. SG Daryl Berry, Phoenix Suns(generated player)
13. PG Luke Ridnour, Charlotte Hornets
14. SG Jake Potter, Miami Heat(generated player)
15. PF Brian Cook, Dallas Mavericks
24. C Darko Milicic, Toronto Raptors
42. SG Kyle Korver, Dallas Mavericks
43. PF Luke Walton, Phoenix Suns
48. C Kendrick Perkins, Seattle SuperSonics
49. C Zaza Pachulia, Philadelphia 76ers

Free Agency

A list of every player rated 80 overall or higher that switched teams in free agency:

PG Andre Miller, Philadelphia 76ers, 3 years, 76 million dollars
PF Antwan Jamison, Golden State Warriors, 2 years, 49 million dollars
SG Kerry Kittles, Boston Celtics, 3 years, 40 million dollars
PG Kevin Ollie, Los Angeles Lakers, 3 years, 29 million dollars

Andre Miller ditches Cleveland to join AI in Philly, finally providing some help for the embattled superstar. Antwan Jamison returns to Oakland to join new rookie Carmelo Anthony, and Boston and LA sign back-up guards. Overall, a much less impactful class than last year, but still interesting.

Way Too Early Predictions

NBA.com has doubled down on the City of Angels, once again predicting the Clippers and Lakers to lead the league. They have the Suns in third, as Amar'e Stoudemire is progressing nicely. The Spurs are predicted to bounce back, and the Hawks are in the top ten with LeBron. The Cavaliers are in the bottom ten and have a serious gap at point guard, while the Bucks and SuperSonics are strangely in the bottom two.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Cold as Ice)

Last time on The New Millennium, the Indiana Pacers came from out of nowhere to emerge as the best team in the NBA, and Kevin Garnett won his first MVP. Who will claim the ultimate prize? It's time to find out.

First Round

In the West, the Lakers and Nuggets breezed through in sweeps, and the Grizzlies got pummeled by Kevin Garnett and Dikembe Mutombo. and Seattle got a big series from Shammond Williams to take out Portland. Out East, Allen Iverson couldn't do enough to beat the Pacers, and the Bucks and Nets had no problems against the Cavaliers and Wizards. In the much hyped rematch between the Raptors and Magic, Terry Wesley was the hero for Toronto, helping oust the reigning champs.

Second Round

The Pacers continued to have no problems, sweeping Vince Carter and the Raptors. In a tight seven game battle, the young Nets took out the Bucks, with Jason Richardson posting a triple double in Game 5. Out West, Marc Jackson played huge for the SuperSonics, holding Shaq in check as Seattle won in 5. In a great battle between top big men Antonio McDyess and Kevin Garnett, Denver took out Minnesota, as former second round pick Phil Doyle scored 32 in the decisive Game 6.

Conference Finals

Who can stop the Indiana Pacers? Certainly not the Nets, who went down in another sweep, with Reggie Miller turning back the clock in Game 4 with 19 points. Indiana has now lost only one game all playoffs, against the 76ers in the first round when AI dropped 46. In the West, the SuperSonics pushed the Nuggets to their limits, all the way to seven games. In Game 7, McDyess was a menace, blocking shot after shot to send Denver to the Finals.

NBA Finals

The Nuggets would steal Game 1 in Indiana, as young Shane Battier missed only one shot on his way to 20 points. Jalen Rose restored order in Game 2, dropping 30 to tie the series.

Game 3 went to the Pacers, as Antwan Jamison out-dueled McDyess this time in a narrow five point win. But Denver's big man responded in Game 4, scoring 24 and getting an extra 19 points from Nick Van Exel in a blowout.

McDyess and Jamison went to war again in Game 5, but McDyess was too much to handle, dropping 30 in a narrow win, stealing another game in Indiana.

In a very defensive Game 6, McDyess finally struggled, but Van Exel stepped up, dropping 25 crucial points. A late turnover by Jalen Rose sealed the Pacers' fate, as the Denver Nuggets lifted their first championship in front of their loyal fans.

NBA Finals MVP: Nick Van Exel(16.3 ppg, 11 apg)

In this alternate reality, the Nuggets will never draft Carmelo Anthony, but got a hell of a trade-off, winning their first championship. Just like last year, The New Millennium has given a franchise it's first ring, and we're still just getting started. Up next, big names test the market and new stars enter the league as the offseason is upon us.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Setting the Pace)

Last time on The New Millennium, Cleveland was the biggest winner, drafting Yao Ming with the first pick and signing Paul Pierce in free agency. Chauncey Billups joined a stacked Clippers team hungry to make the playoffs, whilst Dirk Nowitzki left Dallas to head to the nation's capital. How will all of these moves effect the 2002-2003 season?

Western Conference

(Henry's Note- I've decided to use a different look for these season recaps, now showing every team and their record. Hopefully you like this more)

1. Los Angeles Lakers(55-27)
2. Denver Nuggets(53-29)
3. Vancouver Grizzlies(50-32)
4. Portland Trail Blazers(47-35)
5. Seattle SuperSonics(45-37)
6. Minnesota Timberwolves(43-39)
7. Sacramento Kings(41-41)
8. Dallas Mavericks(41-41)
9. Utah Jazz(41-41)
10. Phoenix Suns(41-41)
11. Houston Rockets(39-43)
12. Los Angeles Clippers(35-47)
13. San Antonio Spurs(33-49)
14. Golden State Warriors(24-58)
15. New Orleans Pelicans(13-69)

Taking a look through these standings, I want to address that logjam between seventh and tenth place. The reason the Kings and Mavericks made the playoffs is down to Utah's poor record in their division, and the Suns' poor record in conference games. New MVP Kevin Garnett dragged a very poor Timberwolves team into the playoffs, but Pau Gasol could not do the same for his disappointing Clippers squad. The Mavericks somehow made it in despite losing Dirk, as Joe Johnson stepped up, and the Lakers returned to the top with new addition Carlos Boozer.

Eastern Conference

1. Indiana Pacers(58-24)
2. New Jersey Nets(50-32)
3. Milwaukee Bucks(49-33)
4. Toronto Raptors(47-35)
5. Orlando Magic(47-35)
6. Washington Wizards(45-37)
7. Cleveland Cavaliers(45-37)
8. Philadelphia 76ers(45-37)
9. Miami Heat(44-38)
10. Charlotte Hornets(42-40)
11. Boston Celtics(38-44)
12. Detroit Pistons(38-44)
13. Chicago Bulls(33-49)
14. New York Knicks(27-55)
15. Atlanta Hawks(21-61)

Wow, just look at the Pacers go! After missing the playoffs in two consecutive years, they signed Antwan Jamison at the start of the season, and got a big year from rookie Justin Galloway to cruise to the best record in the league. For the second year in a row, we'll see the Raptors and Magic meet up in the first round, as Vince Carter seeks revenge. Dirk and Paul Pierce led their new teams to the playoffs, and Allen Iverson did just enough to sneak Philly in for their third shot at winning in the first round. Boston hurt their chances at a high pick with a surprisingly good year, as Antoine Walker scored almost 20 points a game, and the Knicks, just two years removed from a NBA Finals appearance, fell off a cliff.

Awards

MVP: Kevin Garnett, Minnesota Timberwolves
