NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Sleepless in Seattle)

After just managing to stay in Seattle, the SuperSonics go to work, attempting to build a better future. It's time to look at the trades for the 2012-2013 season.

- The Seattle SuperSonics trade PG Rajon Rondo(89 OVR), SF Fred McKenzie(76 OVR), PG Monty McCaw(82 OVR) and 2013 2nd round pick to the Vancouver Grizzlies for PF Austin Conley(85 OVR), SF Shane Battier(75 OVR) and PG Courtney Ford(80 OVR)-

Seattle just drafted Damian Lillard(80 OVR, 92 Potential) and already had Eric Bledsoe(83 OVR, 87 Potential) on the roster, so Rondo had to go. Conley still has 88 Potential at 26 years of age, and is signed on for five more years, making him a solid player to build around. Vancouver gets an elite defensive point guard, adding on to their stellar defense that was the second best in the NBA last season.

- The Seattle SuperSonics trade SG Brett Moran(90 OVR) to the Indiana Pacers for SF Shawn Marion(82 OVR) and 2013 1st round pick-

Seattle continues to clean out, getting rid of the 35 year old Moran, acquiring an unprotected first round pick back. Indiana gets an elite scorer who has averaged over 20 points a year for all eight seasons of his career, and will also be a great mentor for Klay Thompson(85 OVR, 92 Potential).

- The Milwaukee Bucks trade PF O.J. Delk(84 OVR) to the Toronto Raptors for PF Kenneth Faried(77 OVR) and 2014 1st round pick-

Needing a power forward, Toronto picks up Delk, who has been solid but unspectacular in Milwaukee. The Bucks get back Faried, who has 83 Potential, and a top ten protected pick.

- The Milwaukee Bucks trade PF Mathew Goodrich(83 OVR) and 2013 2nd round pick to the Minnesota Timberwolves for PG Isaiah Thomas(82 OVR) and SF Hubert Frye(77 OVR)-

The Bucks now pick up a new starting point guard in Thomas, who was very upset in Minnesota and still has 86 Potential at only 23 years old.

- The Miami Heat trade SF Julio McDaniels(88 OVR), SG Malik Johnston(73 OVR) and two 2013 2nd round picks to the Golden State Warriors for SF Gary Seymour(90 OVR) and PG Warren Ewing(72 OVR)-

The Heat made a couple trades to pick up some second round picks, and now deal both of them, alongside the disappointing Daniels, to acquire Seymour, who was traded for Carmelo Anthony last year. Seymour still has five years left on his deal, providing security right now for Miami but could be a big burden in the future.

- The New Jersey Nets trade PG Marvin Levins Jr.(84 OVR), PF Herbert Augmon(80 OVR) and 2013 1st round pick to the New Orleans Pelicans for PG Roland Snow(86 OVR)-

Trying to acquire a top level point guard, the Nets trade for Snow, who was excellent in a bench role for the Pelicans. Snow does only have one year left, and the Nets were forced to give up an unprotected 1st round pick, but they think he's worth it.

- The Phoenix Suns trade PG Anders Fredriksson(86 OVR) and SF Avery Bradley(82 OVR) to the Washington Wizards for PG Brandon Knight(82 OVR), SF Richard Hamilton(77 OVR) and 2013 and 2014 1st round picks-

Looking to make one big playoff push with Dirk Nowitzki(91 OVR) now 34 years old, the Wizards pick up Fredriksson, who has been fantastic the past three years, and also Bradley, who provides stellar defense and also has 85 Potential. They have to give up two years worth of unprotected first round picks to do it, as Phoenix gets ammunition for the Draft.

(Henry's Note- I'm taking a bit of a break from this series for right now to focus on projects for my main blog, but this break should hopefully not be more than a couple weeks)

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Luck of the Draw)

Last time on The New Millennium, LeBron James began to prove his critics wrong, lifting the 2012 NBA Championship alongside the likes of fellow superstars Paul Pierce and Dwight Howard. Now, the offseason is upon us and changes are coming.

Player Retirements

Biding farewell to the NBA this year were the likes of Brevin Knight, Steve Francis, Earl Boykins, Kenyon Martin, Raja Bell and Justin Galloway. No players would be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

League Realignment

The major question heading into the offseason was whether the SuperSonics would move to Oklahoma City, robbing Seattle of their franchise. In the end, I noted the relatively decent fan interest(66.6 %) and solid market size(Medium), plus the poor reception of the move in real life, so I decided to let them stay for at least one more season. Should fan interest drop to low levels in the future, they will be in serious danger.

Draft Lottery

With only the ninth best odds, the Bucks got lucky, jumping all the way up to pick number three. Seattle kept their team but dropped to fourth thanks to Milwaukee and the Jazz got the fifth pick thanks to the Goran Dragic trade with Sacramento. The Pelicans will pick second, and after trading up last year, the Spurs got the luck of the draw, winning the number one pick.

- The Utah Jazz trade 2012 5th and 17th overall picks to the Milwaukee Bucks for the 3rd overall pick-

Needing a big name, Utah moves up two spots and Milwaukee gets an extra 1st round pick, which they are very happy about.

2012 NBA Draft

1. C Andre Drummond, San Antonio Spurs(As Duncan continues to decline, the Spurs finally replace Dwight Howard)
2. SG Bradley Beal, New Orleans Pelicans
3. PF Anthony Davis, Utah Jazz(New Orleans passes on bringing back AD, as Utah's trade pays off)
4. PG Damian Lillard, Seattle SuperSonics(Is Rondo on the trade block?)
5. PF Draymond Green, Milwaukee Bucks(The Bucks needed defense and got it)
6. SF Harrison Barnes, Phoenix Suns
7. SF Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Orlando Magic
8. SF Yuri Klimov, Cleveland Cavaliers
9. SF Zach King, Miami Heat
10. SG Austin Rivers, Toronto Raptors(Don't know about this one)
11. C John Henson, Golden State Warriors(Well that's even worse)
12. SG Dion Waiters, Charlotte Hornets
13. PG Florin Calmuschi, Golden State Warriors
14. PG Franklin Hickman, Dallas Mavericks
15. SG Khris Middleton, Detroit Pisons(That's a steal)
16. PG Marquis Teague, Houston Rockets
18. SF Terrence Ross, Portland Trail Blazers
19. SF Jae Crowder, Denver Nuggets
24. C Miles Plumlee, Indiana Pacers
27. PG Tomas Satoransky, Denver Nuggets
28. C Meyers Leonard, Chicago Bulls
30. SG Evan Fournier, Cleveland Cavaliers
35. SG Jeremy Lamb, Sacramento Kings
41. SF Maurice Harkless, Sacramento Kings
43. SG Will Barton, Charlotte Hornets
45. C Kyle O'Quinn, Dallas Mavericks
46. PF Mike Scott, Portland Trail Blazers
48. SF Darius Miller, Houston Rockets
51. PF Quincy Acy, Boston Celtics
53. C Tyler Zeller, Orlando Magic
58. C Andrew Nicholson, Phoenis Suns

Free Agency

Here are the players that switched teams in free agency:

C Sherman Conway(91 OVR), Sacramento Kings, 4 years, 145 million dollars
PG Darrel Fordham(89 OVR), Indiana Pacers, 4 years, 117 million dollars
SG Ray Allen(87 OVR), Utah Jazz, 1 year, 20 million dollars
PG Goran Dragic(87 OVR), Toronto Raptors, 4 years, 89 million dollars
PG Cliff Hobbs(86 OVR), San Antonio Spurs, 4 years, 51 million dollars
C Damon Stallworth(85 OVR), Philadelphia 76ers, 3 years, 36 million dollars
PF Bill Parks(85 OVR), Seattle SuperSonics, 4 years, 52 million dollars
SF Brandon Rush(84 OVR), Phoenix Suns, 3 years, 28 million dollars
C Jermaine O'Neal(83 OVR), Sacramento Kings, 3 years, 32 million dollars

Offseason Analysis

The Kings spent big to upgrade their big men, picking up Conway and O'Neal, two former NBA Finals MVPs in free agency. Indiana and San Antonio fill holes at point guard, and I have to like how aggressive the Jazz have been. Now with a true franchise player in Anthony Davis, Salt Lake City finally has something to cheer for. Seattle got a steal in Lillard, projected to be the second pick, but their future still looks murky at best. They're going to have to hope to get a nice package for Rajon Rondo, who is surely on the move.

2013 Draft Preview

Unlike real life, Giannis Antetokounmpo is the consensus number one overall pick, a player that surely a few teams would consider tanking for. But there is other talent in the class, including the likes of Victor Oladipo, Rudy Gobert, Steven Adams and C.J. McCollum. Still, this is a weaker class than most, with the truly elite talent at a minimum.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Crowning Moment)

Last time on The New Millennium, the Chicago Bulls returned to their favorite spot as the best team in the East, while the Los Angeles Clippers surprisingly became the best in the West. Both of these consistent underachievers looks to finally shake the critics, but have a long road ahead of them. Who will claim the ultimate prize and win the 2012 NBA Championship?

First Round

The Clippers would have no problems in the first round, easily sweeping the Jazz. The other Los Angeles team would not fare as well, as the Lakers went down to the Nuggets in the third straight match-up between the two, with Denver winning the decisive Game 4 thanks to 48 combined points from big men Kevin Love and Sherman Conway. The Grizzlies would need all hands on deck, and just had enough to oust the pesky Trail Blazers, winning in five games. And in another five game series, 38 points in Game 5 wouldn't be enough for Kevin Durant to get his Timberwolves through, as Minnesota was upset by the Houston Rockets.

Out East, the Bulls blew past the Pistons in four games, avenging their first round defeat from two years ago. The Hawks took out the 76ers thanks to 39 and 32 point games from LeBron James in Games 3 and 4, both wins for Atlanta. The favored Indiana Pacers struggled for offense against the Boston Celtics, as they scored under 90 points in Games 3 and 4 to be sent packing. And after one big upset last year, the Washington Wizards were on the hunt for another, pushing the Nets all the way to five games. But in Game 5, early season signing Rudy Gay scored a clutch 33 points to send New Jersey through.

Second Round

The Bulls' post season struggles continued, as they ran up against the Hawks, who won in 5 despite a generally poor series from LeBron James. Meanwhile, the young Boston Celtics faced a Nets team who were hopeful to reach their fourth NBA Finals in a row. The Celtics pushed it all the way to seven, and in Game 7, New Jersey came up empty, scoring only 85 points as LaMarcus Aldridge posted a double-double to send Boston to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Out West, the Nuggets were looking for another great playoff run, pushing the Clippers all the way to seven games. In Game 7, Dwyane Wade and Pau Gasol were quiet, but Kevin Martin was not, dropping 20 points to keep the Clippers in the hunt. They would be joined by another low seeded surprise, as the Grizzlies could not contain young Blake Griffin, who scored 28 points to win Game 6 as the Rockets searched for their second title in The New Millennium.

Conference Finals

Against his former team, Paul Pierce turned back the clock, as LeBron took a backseat while Pierce dominated, sending the Celtics packing in just five games. In the West, the Clippers would face a much tougher challenge, as Blake Griffin and big man partner Al Horford dominated in the paint. Down 2-1 in Game 5, Dwyane Wade refused to let his team go down that easily. Wade dropped 33, then finished the Rockets off in Houston with 27 more, as the Clippers advanced for a showdown of the ages with LeBron and the Hawks.

NBA Finals

Game 1 in LA was a duel between LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, as former teammates in real life had it out. In the end, Wade proved to be the better overall player, getting 12 assists and 3 steals to pick up the win. LeBron was held in check in Game 2, but out of nowhere, 21 year old Jrue Holiday put on a show, dropping 27 points to even the series.

Game 3 in Atlanta was a tight defensive battle, that came all the way down to the wire. But in the biggest moment, LeBron rose to the occasion, blocking Pau Gasol's hook shot to pull off a narrow 90-88 win. Defense gave way to offense in Game 4, and King James reigned supreme once more, scoring 37 points to put Atlanta a win away from a title.

The stars shine brightest in Hollywood, and they certainly shone bright for the Atlanta Hawks in Game 5. LeBron James, Paul Pierce, Dwight Howard, Anton Kozlov and Jrue Holiday combined for 115 points, nearly out-scoring the Clippers all on their own. In the end, Wade, Gasol and company had no counter, as they and the fans in attendance could only watch on, as the King lifted his very first title. The Atlanta Hawks are the 2012 NBA Champions!

NBA Finals MVP: LeBron James(24.2 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 7.2 apg)

For the second time, the Clippers come up short in the NBA Finals, but the big story here is the turnaround of the "super team" in Atlanta. They were eliminated in the first round last year, and return with a vengeance, losing only three games on their path to their first title in Atlanta. It's obviously a big moment for 28 year old LeBron James, who cements his claim as being one of the greatest of all-time. Join me next time on The New Millennium for the 2012 offseason.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Kid Dynamite)

Last time on The New Millennium, Carmelo Anthony was traded from the Warriors to the Knicks for a boatload of picks, and the likes of Kyrie Irving and Kawhi Leonard were drafted to their old stomping grounds. Plus, top free agents Jay Williams and Cliff Moor found new homes in Philadelphia and Indiana respectively. How will these changes affect the 2011-2012 regular season?

Eastern Conference

1. Chicago Bulls(55-27)
2. New Jersey Nets(53-29)
3. Indiana Pacers(52-30)
4. Atlanta Hawks(52-30)
5. Philadelphia 76ers(51-31)
6. Boston Celtics(47-35)
7. Washington Wizards(46-36)
8. Detroit Pistons(41-41)
9. Charlotte Hornets(38-44)
10. New York Knicks(36-46)
11. Toronto Raptors(35-47)
12. Miami Heat(34-48)
13. Milwaukee Bucks(34-48)
14. Cleveland Cavaliers(33-49)
15. Orlando Magic(30-52)

New year, more wins for Chicago and New Jersey, who are yet again two of the best teams in the East. The Pacers achieved a shocking one year turnaround, thanks to rookie Klay Thompson(22 ppg) and new signing Cliff Moor(11.4 ppg, 10.1 rpg). LeBron and Atlanta will face former point guard Jay Williams(16.1 ppg, 6 apg) who had a career year leading the deadly Philly offense. Boston got a great year from young Eric Gordon(17.7 ppg) as did the Pistons from their young star Russell Westrbrook(19.4 ppg, 7.6 apg). The Knicks have to be disappointed after missing out on the playoffs despite acquiring Melo, and youthful teams like Toronto, Miami and Milwaukee will hope that their fortunes will change soon. And Orlando just fell off a cliff, as the second worst defense in the entire NBA negating most of their offensive weapons.

Western Conference

1. Los Angeles Clippers(55-27)
2. Minnesota Timberwolves(54-28)
3. Vancouver Grizzlies(52-30)
4. Los Angeles Lakers(47-35)
5. Denver Nuggets(44-38)
6. Portland Trail Blazers(43-39)
7. Houston Rockets(43-39)
8. Utah Jazz(43-39)
9. Dallas Mavericks(42-40)
10. Golden State Warriors(38-44)
11. Sacramento Kings(30-52)
12. Phoenix Suns(30-52)
13. New Orleans Pelicans(28-54)
14. San Antonio Spurs(26-56)
15. Seattle SuperSonics(18-64)

After years with only one Finals loss to their name, the Clippers, led by Dwyane Wade(19.8 ppg, 9.2 apg) and Pau Gasol(15.2 ppg, 10.9 rpg), have finally taken their spot as the best in the West. But right behind them are the Timberwolves, as Kevin Durant(30.2 ppg, 7 rpg) claimed his first MVP. The Grizzlies surprised many, as their stellar defense won them 52 games, and the Lakers slipped to fourth for another first round clash with the Nuggets. The Utah Jazz just snuck into the playoffs, thanks to a terrific season from power forward Dante Jacobsen(15.7 ppg, 8.2 rpg). The defending champion Mavericks missed out by just 1 game, as Stephen Curry's teammates tried their best to limit the young star's scoring, seemingly jealous over the attention Curry has already received. The Warriors improved despite trading Anthony away, and the Kings fell flat on their faces with a dearth of talent in the paint. The Suns couldn't defend, the Spurs couldn't score, and the SuperSonics failed to do either, as the franchise's management spent most of the year fighting off rumors of a move to Oklahoma City.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Apple of My Eye)

After many years in the shadows, waiting for their moment, one of the biggest franchises in the NBA makes a franchise altering decision. It's time to take a look at the trades made for the 2011-2012 season.

- The New York Knicks trade SF Gary Seymour(89 OVR), SG Ellis Carlisle(85 OVR) plus 2012, 2013 and 2014 1st round picks to the Golden State Warriors for SF Carmelo Anthony(95 OVR) and SG Grant Slater(84 OVR)-

With tons of depth but no real star, the Knicks do what they did in real life, trading for Carmelo Anthony to be the new face of the franchise. Anthony made 7 All-Star Team in Oakland, in addition to winning an MVP in just his second season, but has seen the franchise falter in recent years. In exchange for giving up their centerpiece, the Warriors get three unprotected first round picks, Seymour and Carlisle. Although Seymour is the higher rated player, Carlisle is the bigger prize, still only 26 years old, signed on for four more years and has 90 Potential. The Warriors would later pick up another first round pick from the Nets in exchange for Ray Allen.

- The Atlanta Hawks trade SF Nick Lowry(87 OVR) and 2012 1st round pick to the Cleveland Cavaliers for PG Guillermo Alvarado(84 OVR) and SF Danilo Gallinari(85 OVR)-

Atlanta picks up two solid bench pieces in Alvarado and Gallinari, both of whom are below the age of 25. In exchange, Cleveland gets Lowry, who is good but on an expiring deal, and a top ten protected first round pick.

- The Utah Jazz trade PG Goran Dragic(86 OVR) to the Sacramento Kings for PG Quinn Park(83 OVR) and 2012 1st round pick-

With Kemba Walker(79 OVR) recently drafted, the Jazz trade away the former fourth over pick to Sacramento, where he will back up Chris Paul(95 OVR) for at least the final year of his contract. The Kings would also make a trade to pick up Danny Green(85 OVR) who was very upset with the Lakers.

- The Los Angeles Lakers trade C Stanley Rider(85 OVR) to the Seattle SuperSonics for PF Bill Parks(84 OVR) and PG Raymond Felton(84 OVR)-

After the injury issues to Greg Oden(82 OVR) last year, Seattle gets a better center in Rider, while the Lakers getting a good back-up point guard in Felton.

- The San Antonio Spurs traded two second round picks to acquire SG Lance Stephenson(81 OVR) from the Indiana Pacers and PF Derrick Favors(82 OVR) from the Detroit Pistons-

In two genius moves, the Spurs, who lacked quality in most positions, quickly picked up two bright young players who were being wasted in their respective teams. Both Stephenson and Favors have 85 Potential, so San Antonio is now looking very good for the future.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Timeline Intact)

Last time on The New Millennium, young Stephen Curry put on a show, leading his Mavericks to a seven game win over the Nets and the 2011 NBA Championship. Now, the offseason is upon us and changes are coming.

Player Retirements

Biding farewell to the NBA this years were the likes of Chris Webber, Rasheed Wallace, Derek Fisher, Rafer Alston and Ruben Patterson. Webber would be elected into the Hall of Fame.

Draft Lottery

Despite the seventh best odds, the Phoenix Suns won the first overall pick for the second year in a row, and right behind them, the Cavaliers would move up to claim the second pick. The Pacers got the third, and the Spurs and Jazz(again) fell to fourth and fifth, respectively.

- The Phoenix Suns trade 2011 1st overall pick to the San Antonio Spurs for the 2011 4th and 28th overall picks plus SF Avery Bradley(79 OVR)-

Quickly, the Suns get a deal done, not needing the first overall pick with a solid roster already. But the Spurs need a superstar and were determined to get the deal done, moving two picks along with last year's eighth overall pick in Bradley, who has 85 Potential.

2011 NBA Draft

1. SF Kawhi Leonard, San Antonio Spurs(Kawhi returns to San Antonio, who has their new star)
2. PG Kyrie Irving, Cleveland Cavaliers(yet again, Kyrie goes to the team that drafted him irl)
3. SG Klay Thompson, Indiana Pacers
4. SF Wes Atkins, Phoenix Suns(generated player with 90 Potential)
5. PG Kemba Walker, Utah Jazz(solid pick)
6. C Tristan Thompson, Toronto Raptors
7. PF Tobias Harris, Toronto Raptors(Toronto does a lot better with their second pick)
8. SG Alec Burks, Golden State Warriors
9. SG Jimmy Butler, New York Knicks(man, Golden State are idiots)
10. SF Ronald Yates, Milwuakee Bucks
11. C Bismack Biyombo, Dallas Mavericks(winning a title apparently doesn't help drafting)
12. C Enes Kanter, Miami Heat
13. PG Reggie Jackson, Milwaukee Bucks
14. SG Iman Shumpert, New Orleans Pelicans
15. SF Randolph Randolph, Detroit Pistons(great name, 91 Potential as well)
17. SF MarShon Brooks, Orlando Magic
19. C Jonas Valaciunas, Boston Celtics
20. C Nikola Vucevic, Denver Nuggets
23. PG Brandon Knight, Houston Rockets
24. PG Isaiah Thomas, Minnesota Timberwolves(good chance to play with the Kevins)
25. SF Marcus Morris, Los Angeles Clippers
29. SG DeAndre Liggins, Los Angeles Lakers(WTF)
34. PG Shelvin Mack, Cleveland Cavaliers
38. PF Kenneth Faried, Toronto Raptors
39. PF Markieff Morris, Los Angeles Lakers
40. PF Nikola Mirotic, Philadelphia 76ers
41. SF Chandler Parsons, Philadelphia 76ers
42. PG Cory Joseph, Milwaukee Bucks
45. PF Jon Leuer, Dallas Mavericks
47. SF Kyle Singler, Sacramento Kings
50. PF Davis Bertans, Dallas Mavericks
53. SG E'Twaun Moore, San Antonio Spurs

Free Agency

Here are the players who switched teams in free agency:

PG Jay Williams(90 OVR), Philadelphia 76ers, 4 years, 110 million dollars
C Cliff Moor(87 OVR), Indiana Pacers, 4 years, 89 million dollars
SF Ed Mercer(85 OVR), Orlando Magic, 4 years, 52 million dollars
C Jermaine O'Neal(85 OVR), San Antonio Spurs, 4 years, 85 million dollars
C Emeka Okafor(84 OVR), Detroit Pistons, 3 years, 28 million dollars
PF Channing Frye(84 OVR), Houston Rockets, 4 years, 47 million dollars
C Brendan Haywood(83 OVR), Los Angeles Clippers, 3 years, 22 million dollars
SG Coty Porter(83 OVR), Charlotte Hornets, 3 years, 31 million dollars

2012 Draft Preview

The 2012 class has two big names in it, as Anthony Davis and Damian Lillard each provide franchise player type potential. There's also the likes of Draymond Green, Andre Drummond and Khris Middleton, but this class clearly lacks quality.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(The Big D)

Last time on The New Millennium, two of the greatest players of all time, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, led their teams to the top spot of their respective conference. Now, both look to cement their legacy, as Kobe looks for his fourth ring and LeBron hunts his first. Who will claim the ultimate prize and win the 2011 NBA Championship?

First Round

This time, there would no mistakes by the Lakers to start things off, as they cruised past the Nuggets to knock out the defending champions. In a hard fought five game series, the Clippers would advance to face their LA counterparts, as Dwyane Wade scored 25 points to win Game 5. Portland ousted Houston, and Dallas was taken all the way to five games by Vancouver before Zach Randolph slammed the door in Game 5, notching 26 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Out East, the Hawks hit disaster immediately, going down 2-0 before winning two games to send in to Game 5. But in that game, Dirk Nowitzki saw off the best team in the East, hitting a game winner to send the Wizards through with a big upset. The young Boston Celtics, led by LaMarcus Aldridge, Eric Gordon and Mike Conley, pummeled the Bulls in four games to face Washington in Round 2. Charlotte had no issues against the Magic, and the Nets survived a physical four game series to eliminate the pesky Detroit Pistons.

Second Round

This was Dirk's big playoff run in reality and he was determined to do the same here, dominating against the younger Aldridge. Nowitzki would score an impressive 29 points in Game 4, as the Wizards advanced again, only dropping one game to Boston. The Nets one upped Washington, sweeping the Hornets with ease, on the verge on their third NBA Finals appearance in a row.

In the Battle of LA, the Lakers and Clippers were tied at 2-2 entering Game 5. There, Kobe took control, dropping 29 points, before following it up with 32 more in Game 6, leading his Lakers to win both games and earn a trip to the Western Conference Finals. They would be joined by fellow top seed, the Dallas Mavericks, who took out the Trail Blazers in 5, Steph Curry putting on a show in the decisive Game 5, scoring 41 points and hitting a game winner to send Portland packing.

Conference Finals

The New Jersey Nets continue to be fantastic in the playoffs, ending the impressive run of the Wizards in just five games. They didn't have a star performer and didn't need one, as Jamaal Teague, Jason Richardson, Coty Porter and Stephen Jackson took turns leading the team in scoring. For the third year in a row, the Nets are in the NBA Finals.

The Lakers didn't have much of an answer for Stephen Curry to start the series, losing two of the first three games and allowing Curry to score 47 point in Game 1. But in Game 4, Curry fouled out after playing just 14 minutes, allowing the Lakers to steal a win in Dallas to tie up the series. Now heading back home, the Lakers felt safe. They shouldn't have, as Curry put up 31 and Edwin Underwood came off the bench to add 16 more, winning Game 5. Game 6 was more of the same, as Curry and Clifton Davenport combined for 57 point, center Derrick Flory grabbed 14 rebounds and Dallas booked their spot in the Finals.

NBA Finals

Game 1 in Dallas saw Jamaal Teague go big for the Nets, scoring 23 points, grabbing 19 rebound and blocking 6 shots. The Nets would force overtime, where Curry missed several big threes and the Mavericks came up short. Game 2 saw Dallas get their revenge, building up a big lead early and surviving a ferocious comeback attempt to tie up the series.

Game 3 in New Jersey saw Curry foul out yet again, and back-up Cliff Hobbs couldn't replace him, losing five key turnovers in a tough eight point loss. But the Nets had no answer for Curry's revenge in Game 4. Stephen Curry scored an astonishing 61 points, including 17 3-pointers, an onslaught no team could survive and one of the greatest single game performances in NBA Finals history.

Curry had 36 more in Game 5, but the key to Dallas' win was the shocking performance of Emeka Okafor, who scored 21 points off the bench to put the Mavericks a win away from a title.

But the Nets weren't going down that easily. On their home floor, Coty Porter to equal Curry's 21 points, Stephen Jackson added 21 more and Game 7 was needed.

At home, the Mavericks would race out to a 17 points halftime lead, looking to close the Nets out. But in the second half, New Jersey came alive, as Jason Richardson put the team on his back, slowly but surely making their way back into the game. Jamaal Teague would take over in the fourth quarter, and with Curry quiet, the Nets made it all the way to a 1 point game. But Travis Sanders hit several big shots, and Emeka Okafor forced a few steals, as Dallas pulled away in the end. For the second straight year, the Nets fell short, as just like in real life, the Dallas Mavericks are the 2011 NBA Champions!

NBA Finals MVP: Stephen Curry(31.7 ppg, 10 apg, 2.9 spg)

In only his second year in the league, Stephen Curry is already a legend, winning the MVP, scoring 61 points in a Finals game and bringing the trophy home to Dallas. This is surely the beginning of one of the greatest careers of all-time, one that could certainly beat the incredible accomplishments he's had in real life. Join me next time on The New Millennium for the 2011 offseason.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(King's Landing)

Last time on The New Millennium, the Atlanta Hawks once again loaded up, re-signing Paul Pierce and trading for Dwight Howard. Plus, the Warriors traded for Ray Allen, the Kings for Jason Terry, and the Lakers signed a new point guard, Dorell Moncrief. How would these changes affect the 2010-2011 regular season?

(Henry's Note: I turned injuries on this year but kept the frequency low, just to try and spice things up. Not too many players actually got injured, but Greg Oden took this opportunity to tear his ACL, because of course he did)

Western Conference

1. Los Angeles Lakers(60-22)
2. Dallas Mavericks(60-22)
3. Portland Trail Blazers(50-32)
4. Los Angeles Clippers(48-34)
5 Minnesota Timberwolves(46-36)
6. Houston Rockets(46-36)
7. Vancouver Grizzlies(43-39)
8. Denver Nuggets(42-40)
9. New Orleans Pelicans(42-40)
10. Sacramento Kings(41-41)
11. Golden State Warriors(36-46)
12. Seattle SuperSonics(35-47)
13. Utah Jazz(32-50)
14. Phoenix Suns(30-52)
15. San Antonio Spurs(27-55)

After only one team, the Bulls in 2004-2005, managed to win 60+ games, this year, two teams did it in the same conference. Unfortunately for the Mavericks and MVP Stephen Curry, they just missed out to Kobe and the Lakers. Portland greatly improved thanks to new addition Jimmie Owens(18 ppg, 9.3 rpg), and Houston got a great second season out of Blake Griffin(20 ppg, 7 rpg). Denver just hung on on the final day of the season, clinching the final spot once again, taking out the Pelicans on tiebreaker. The Kings were disappointed to miss out despite a positive point differential, but Carmelo Anthony was steaming mad as the Warriors faltered down the stretch, demanding a trade. Seattle missed Oden, and the Spurs were just terrible in general, putting them in prime position, ironically, to draft Kawhi Leonard in the offseason.

Eastern Conference

1. Atlanta Hawks(54-28)
2. New Jersey Nets(48-34)
3. Charlotte Hornets(42-40)
4. Boston Celtics(41-41)
5. Orlando Magic(41-41)
6. Chicago Bulls(41-41)
7. Detroit Pistons(39-43)
8. Washington Wizards(39-43)
9. Milwaukee Bucks(38-44)
10. Philadelphia 76ers(38-44)
11. Miami Heat(38-44)
12. New York Knicks(37-45)
13. Toronto Raptors(34-48)
14. Cleveland Cavaliers(32-50)
15. Indiana Pacers(30-52)

If only teams like New Orleans and Sacramento could be in the East, where outside of Atlanta and New Jersey, there were a ton of subpar teams with bad records. The Bulls left the top spot wide open, but did sign Rudy Gay(19.3 ppg) before the season started. The loss of Gay left Russell Westbrook(18.1 ppg, 7.4 apg) to put on a show in Detroit to power his team into the playoffs, while Milwaukee just missed out despite a good year from James Harden(19.2 ppg, 6.9 apg). The Raptors struggled again as Vince Carter(13 ppg) continued to decline, and Cleveland got a good year from Jack Jamison(15.6 ppg, 8.2 rpg) but not much from anyone else. And shockingly, the Pacers finished in last thanks to a ton of close losses, a stunning result for a team that has been so good in this series.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Homecoming)

Perhaps the biggest story of the offseason was in free agency, but it was one you didn't see. Even after the way the playoff run ended, and multiple offers from other teams, Paul Pierce inked a new five year deal with the Hawks that will keep him in Atlanta until he turns 38. With that, the Hawks went back to work, looking to build up a better roster around LeBron James. Here is a look at the trades made before the 2010-2011 season.

- The Atlanta Hawks trade PG Jay Williams(89 OVR) and 2011 1st round pick to the San Antonio Spurs for C Dwight Howard(91 OVR)-

A big trade right off the bat, as Howard, currently one of the best big men in the NBA, returns home to Atlanta, where he was born and raised. In doing so, he finally gives Atlanta the interior presence they've lacked, a true top big man and an impactful offensive and defensive force. They were forced to give up long time starter Jay Williams, though later replaced him in trade with Jrue Holliday(84 OVR). San Antonio finally gets an elite point guard, though they will have to resign him, along with a first round pick. They could've gotten more for Howard, but after last year's poor finish, he wanted to leave so they got what they could.

- The Milwaukee Bucks trade SG Ray Allen(88 OVR), C Pat Riley(64 OVR) and PG Vin Thomas(77 OVR) to the Golden State Warriors for PG D.J. Augustin(83 OVR), SG Larry Hughes(85 OVR) and C Kelvin Beasley(82 OVR)-

With James Harden(90 OVR) taking over the top role on the team, Milwuakee finally lets Allen go and gets a good package back for him. The main prize is Augustin, who has 86 Potential and could be the long term starting point guard. Meanwhile, the Warriors get a good secondary scorer to complement Carmelo Anthony(94 OVR) and also pick up Thomas, who has 85 Potential.

- The Cleveland Cavaliers trade PF Marvin Williams(87 OVR), PG Lonnie Ferguson(69 OVR) and SG Randolph Hickman(77 OVR) to the Vancouver Grizzlies for SG Gerald Green(83 OVR), PG Ty Lawson(79 OVR) and SF Evan Turner(78 OVR)-

As Jack Jamison(89 OVR) assumes his role as one of the leaders of the team, Cleveland sends Williams packing north of the border. They get back a package of young players, the best of which is Green, who will be their starting shooting guard, though Lawson and Turner could be solid pieces. Williams continues Vancouver's fascination with slashers, though his biggest value is being 24 with three years left on his deal, plus a fourth year player option.

- The Cleveland Cavaliers trade SG Jason Terry(86 OVR) to the Sacramento Kings for SF Peja Stojakovic(85 OVR)-

Green's starting role is the one vacated by Terry, whom Cleveland very eagerly offloaded to Sacramento after a terrible season. Stojakovic is a very solid bench piece, though he may leave in the offseason. The Kings finally have another top level shooting guard, though admittedly one that will cost them almost 40 million dollars for each of the next two years. Still, Terry should form a very good backcourt with reigning MVP Chris Paul(94 OVR).

- The Dallas Mavericks trade PG Darrel Fordham(87 OVR) and C Alton Nash(84 OVR) to the Philadelphia 76ers for C Derrick Flory(85 OVR), PG Cliff Hobbs(85 OVR) and 2011 1st round pick-

Needing a true starting center, Dallas gets Flory from Philly, and adds Hobbs as a solid back-up point guard for young Stephen Curry(93 OVR). They also get a 1st round pick, which is top five protected. The 76ers get back Fordham, whom they hope can be the leader of their offense for years to come and also Nash, who is only 26 and still has four years left on his deal.

- The Seattle SuperSonics trade PG Jason Coles(86 OVR) to the Portland Trail Blazers for SF Lothar Meier(88 OVR)-

Meier was behind Barney Haynes(90 OVR) in Portland, while Coles was stuck behind Rajon Rondo(88 OVR) in Seattle. Both players swap places and should see good increases in playing time next year.

- The Portland Trail Blazers trade PF Rasheed Wallace(82 OVR) and PG Shaun Livingston(85 OVR) to the Philadelphia 76ers for C Jimmie Owens(89 OVR)-

We end this post with Portland's second trade, as long time Trail Blazers Wallace and Livingston are sent packing. They get Owens in exchange, who was traded for Allen Iverson a few years ago, and finally provides them with an elite big man.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Salty Tears)

Last time on The New Millennium, despite the worst record of any team to make the playoffs, the Denver Nuggets made a miraculous run, eventually knocking off the Nets to win another title. But now, the offseason is upon us and changes are coming.

Player Retirements

Biding farewell to the NBA this year were the likes of Shaquille O'Neal, Juwan Howard, Jason Kidd and Shareef Abdur-Rahim. Shaq would later be inducted into the Hall of Fame, though Kidd would not, a sign of how much this series has changed the timeline.

Draft Lottery

We've seen how often teams can fall in the lottery, and the Utah Jazz suffered that fate this year, falling to fourth despite the best odds. The Miami Heat would steal the first pick with only the sixth best odds, followed by the Raptors, Suns, Jazz and the SuperSonics.

2010 NBA Draft

1. C DeMarcus Cousins, Miami Heat(Cousins teams up with D-Rose in Miami)
2. SF Paul George, Toronto Raptors(Is Vince Carter done in Toronto?)
3. PG John Wall, Phoenix Suns
4. C Ekpe Udoh, Utah Jazz(Utah, what are you doing? They have Darko too)
5. PF Phillip Elliott, Seattle SuperSonics
6. C Hassan Whiteside, New York Knicks
7. PF Joe Wooden, Houston Rockets
8. SG Avery Bradley, San Antonio Spurs
9. SF Evan Turner, Vancouver Grizzlies
10. PG Eric Bledsoe, Seattle SuperSonics(Another steal for Seattle after DeRozan last year)
11. SF Javier Sanchez, Orlando Magic
12. SF Gordon Hayward, Portland Trail Blazers(Portland is loaded with great wing players)
13. PG Derrick Frank, Milwaukee Bucks
14. SF Antonis Alexandris, Boston Celtics
15. C Greg Monroe, Minnesota Timberwolves
16. PF Derrick Favors, Detroit Pistons(Really solid pick here)
17. C Ed Davis, Portland Trail Blazers
18. PF Trevor Booker, Toronto Raptors
22. SG Lance Stephenson, Indiana Pacers(Some things are just meant to be)
23. SF Wesley Johnson, New Orleans Pelicans
26. PF Al-Farooq Aminu, Charlotte Hornets(Good pick for a team that was already good)
39. PF Patrick Patterson, Detroit Pistons
42. SF Quincy Pondexter, Boston Celtics
45. SG Jordan Crawford, Sacramento Kings
48. C Cole Aldrich, Houston Rockets
57. PF Luke Babbitt, Charlotte Hornets
60. PF Nemanja Bjelica, Chicago Bulls

Free Agency

Here are the players that switched teams in free agency:

PG Keyon Dooling(86 OVR), Charlotte Hornets, 4 years, 61 million dollars
PG Dorell Moncrief(85 OVR), Los Angeles Lakers, 4 years, 54 million dollars
PG Andre Miller(85 OVR), Indiana Pacers, 2 years, 24 million dollars
SF Bojan Bogdanovic(85 OVR), Detroit Pistons, 4 years, 54 million dollars
SG Bernard Phelps(85 OVR), Phoenix Suns, 4 years, 46 million dollars
SF Hedo Turkoglu(84 OVR), Milwaukee Bucks, 3 years, 30 million dollars
C Stanley Rider(84 OVR), Los Angeles Lakers, 4 years, 50 million dollars
SG Patrick Hamilton(84 OVR), Toronto Raptors, 3 years, 28 million dollars
C Omer Asik(83 OVR), Vancouver Grizzlies, 3 years, 36 million dollars
SF Shane Battier(83 OVR), Vancouver Grizzlies, 3 years, 27 million dollars
C Kenneth Levingston(83 OVR), Charlotte Hornets, 3 years, 30 million dollars
PF Ryan Anderson(82 OVR), New Orleans Pelicans, 3 years, 32 million dollars

Way Too Early Predictions

The Hornets were shockingly good last year, and just added Dooling and Levingston in free agency, as well as drafting Aminu. They should be a contender, and if I was to go out on a limb, I think the Miami Heat could be a playoff team next year. The team of Rose and Cousins could be very, very good. And I think it's high time the Lakers won another championship, as they finally have a great point guard in Moncrief to complement Kobe Bryant and Joe Johnson.

2011 Draft Preview

Kawhi Leonard may have been a late pick in real life, but he won't be in this world, as all teams now see his franchise potential. This class is just filled with big names, also including Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Kemba Walker, Jimmy Butler, Tobias Harris and Nikola Vucevic. If ever there was a time to start trading for draft picks, now is that time.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Mile High Love)

Last time on The New Millennium, the Lakers and Bulls continued to reign as regular season champions, but neither team has made a run to the NBA Finals in over six years. With both conference stocked with talent, who will claim the ultimate prize and become 2010 NBA Champions?

First Round

Even in a guard dominated league, the Denver Nuggets proved the importance of big men. Kevin Love and Sherman Conway dominated inside of all five games, and the top seeded Lakers were out immediately. Another five game battle saw the Pelicans eliminate the other Los Angeles team, as Tony Parker scored 31 points in Game 5 to take out the Clippers. After a great rookie season, Stephen Curry went completely cold for the Mavericks as the Trail Blazers advanced in four. And in another upset, the Kings went down to the Timberwolves in four, as Kevin Durant scored an incredible 50 points to send Sacramento packing.

If you thought the Bulls could turn around their playoff mistakes, you would be sorely mistaken, as Chicago went down in five in another upset to Rudy Gay and Russell Westbrook of the Detroit Pistons. In a battle of recent champions, the Nets eliminated the Pacers after stellar performances by playoff hero Jason Richardson. The 76ers just survived against the Wizards, as shooting guards Willis Hammonds and Lou Williams combined for 48 points to win the decisive Game 5. The Charlotte Hornets would become the only top two seed to advance, sweeping the supposed "super team" in Atlanta. Their hero was a surprising one, as 35 year old Allen Iverson turned back the clock in a dominant three game performance. The miserable performance of Paul Pierce(he scored only 32 points in 96 minutes) led to a huge argument late in Game 3 with LeBron, leaving Atlanta's future extremely cloudy.

Second Round

Jason Richardson was on fire throughout the Nets' series with Detroit, as New Jersey would win in 6 and oust the young Pistons. They would be joined in the Eastern Conference Finals by the 76ers, who also won in 6. Hammonds was excellent once more, never scoring less than 15 points in any game, and got some help from Caron Butler, who's three point shooting helped win Game 5.

The West was wide open, and the Denver Nuggets were ready to take full advantage. Thanks to their superb defense, allowing New Orleans to score over 100 points only twice all series, they sent the Pelicans packing in only five games. Portland and Minnesota tore lumps out of each other in their series, fighting all the way to seven games. The Timberwolves only stayed alive thanks to Durant, who never scored less than 20 points in any game. In Game 7, he personally sent the Trail Blazers on their way, dropping 33 in Portland to advance.

Conference Finals

In the Western Conference Finals, the lockdown defense of Denver was tested, and for the most part, it held. Durant was held in check all series, only having one game of 20+ point scoring. It came down to Game 6, which was a defensive slugfest, won by a last minute tip-in by Kevin Love to send Denver to their second NBA Finals in The New Millennium.

On their home floor, the 76ers came out firing, winning the first two games of the Eastern Conference Finals. But Chauncey Billups kept his team in it, scoring 60 combined points across Games 3 and 4 to even things up. Game 5 was won with a great bench performance by journeyman Darius Crawford, was Game 6 saw Philly win in Jersey, holding off a late rally. But in Game 7, the Nets blew the 76ers out of the water as Jason Richardson dropped 27 and New Jersey costed to a 29 point win and a chance to win their second consecutive championship.

NBA Finals

Game 1 in New Jersey saw the Nuggets stun the Nets behind a 27 point performance from Jameer Nelson to win easily. Game 2 was much closer, as the teams battled to overtime. There, Kevin Love took charge, drilling a game winning three to take a 2-0 lead heading back home.

In Game 3, the Nets looked defeated, as Denver's third big man, Vladimir Saric, notched a double-double and Denver had a late run to go up 3-0. One win away at home, the Nuggets held a lead for most of the game. But in the fourth quarter, Coty Porter hit several big shots, Chauncey Billups forced several turnovers and the Nets had their first win.

There would be no mistakes in Game 5. The Nuggets dominated at every facet of the game, as Sherman Conway and Kevin Love each had double-doubles. Jameer Nelson led the way with 25 points, for the first time in NBA history, an eighth seed had lifted the Larry O'Brien Trophy! The Denver Nuggets are 2010 NBA Champions!

NBA Finals MVP: Sherman Conway(18 ppg, 9 rpg, 1.6 spg)

For the second time in The New Millennium, the Nuggets are NBA Champions as the Nets fall short of back-to-back titles. Join me next time for the 2010 offseason.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Little Man's League)

Last time on The New Millennium, the Atlanta Hawks stocked up, trading for Paul Pierce and Anton Kozlov. New stars entered the league in the likes of Stephen Curry and James Harden, and their efforts combined with many others have helped make the NBA a guard's league.

Western Conference

1. Los Angeles Lakers(59-23)
2. Sacramento Kings(53-29)
3. Dallas Mavericks(49-33)
4. New Orleans Pelicans(48-34)
5. Los Angeles Clippers(45-37)
6. Portland Trail Blazers(44-38)
7. Minnesota Timberwolves(42-40)
8. Denver Nuggets(41-41)
9. Golden State Warriors(39-43)
10. Phoenix Suns(36-46)
11. Vancouver Grizzlies(34-48)
12. Houston Rockets(31-51)
13. San Antonio Spurs(31-51)
14. Seattle SuperSonics(30-52)
15. Utah Jazz(22-60)

Elite guards dominate the top five, with Kobe and the Lakers, Chris Paul in Sacramento, Tony Parker in New Orleans and Dwyane Wade with the Clippers. But Curry has the chance to be the best of them all, posting incredible numbers in his rookie year(27.3 ppg, 9.5 apg) to help Dallas achieve an incredibly quick turnaround. The Warriors and Carmelo Anthony were extremely disappointed to miss out on the playoffs, as Denver held them off thanks to new starting point guard Jameer Nelson(14 ppg, 7.1 apg). San Antonio saw huge regression from Tim Duncan, and without an elite guard, plummeted down the standings after being one win away from a title just last year. And the Jazz completely wasted a great season from young J.R. Smith(19.5 ppg) to finish in last, ironically thanks to a lack of talented big men.

Eastern Conference

1. Chicago Bulls(56-26)
2. Charlotte Hornets(51-31)
3. Philadelphia 76ers(48-34)
4. Indiana Pacers(47-35)
5. New Jersey Nets(46-36)
6. Washington Wizards(46-36)
7. Atlanta Hawks(45-37)
8. Detroit Pistons(43-39)
9. Milwaukee Bucks(39-43)
10. Boston Celtics(39-43)
11. Orlando Magic(38-44)
12. Cleveland Cavaliers(37-45)
13. Miami Heat(31-51)
14. Toronto Raptors(30-52)
15. New York Knicks(30-52)

The Bulls are once again the best in the East, thanks to four guards(Jamal Crawford, Edwin Russell, Lenny Park and Damien Baxter) averaging double-digit scoring. The Hornets got a great season out of shooting guard Calbert Walton(20 ppg), as did Philly with the combination of new starter Willis Hammonds(16.6 ppg) and sixth man Lou Williams(18.8 ppg). The Wizards improved majorly thanks to rookie shooting guard Dane Grimes(14 ppg), and the Hawks struggled for chemistry all year, benching Anton Kozlov only to see him win Sixth Man of the Year, because why not. Detroit got a big second season out of Russell Westbrook(15.8 ppg, 7.1 apg) to finally reach the playoffs, while the Cavaliers improved despite trading away Paul Pierce. The Raptors had a stunning slide down the standings mostly thanks to the regression of Vince Carter, but at least Drew Gooden(9.1 ppg, 10 rpg) and Brandan Wright(9 ppg, 7.8 rpg) were solid.

Awards

MVP: Chris Paul, Sacramento Kings
Rookie of the Year: Stephen Curry, Dallas Mavericks
Sixth Man: Anton Kozlov, Atlanta Hawks
Defensive Player: LeBron James, Atlanta Hawks
Most Improved: Willis Hammonds, Philadelphia 76ers
Coach of the Year: Phil Jackson, Los Angeles Lakers

Chris Paul wins his second MVP, LeBron is Defensive Player for the sixth year in a row, Phil Jackson is the best coach for the fourth time, and the Lakers and Bulls are the best teams in their conference for the third year running. Deja vu is everywhere in The New Millennium, but the playoffs can often be very random. Next time on The New Millennium, find out who wins the 2010 NBA Championship!

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(#ALLIN)

After doing whatever it took to get his team into the playoffs, LeBron James demanded Hawks management they find him some extra help. They delivered. Let's take a look at the trades made to set up the 2009-2010 season.

- The Cleveland Cavaliers trade SG Paul Pierce(91 OVR) to the Atlanta Hawks for SG Jason Terry(86 OVR) and PG Roland Snow(83 OVR)-

The Paul Pierce era in Cleveland is over, as he joins LeBron in Atlanta. Straight away, questions could be asked about the haul the Cavaliers got back, but the important thing to know is that Pierce only had one year left on his deal alongside a player option. Pierce was leaving at the end of the year anyway, so Cleveland got whatever they could. Terry is 33, but has scored over 15 points a game the last two seasons. Snow has yet to have a big impact in his career, but does have 86 Potential, so it's not a bad haul for the Cavaliers, all things considered. But the Hawks weren't done...

- The Atlanta Hawks trade PF Drew Gooden(84 OVR), SG Sam Ferguson(81 OVR) and 2010 1st round pick to the Toronto Raptors for PF Anton Kozlov(86 OVR) and SG Zach Grant(78 OVR)-

Raptors fans are pissed, and for good reason. Kozlov has scored over 21 points a game in all six years of his career, making two All-Star Games and becoming a fan favorite with his incredible playoff run a few years ago to help win Toronto their first title. But Anton was rumored to be ready to leave in two years when his contract expires, so the Raptors cut ties, getting back Gooden, Ferguson and a pick for next year. Gooden can't compete with Kozlov in terms of talent, but is coming off of the best year of his career(8.6 ppg, 11 rpg, 1.1 blkpg). Both teams would make a couple more trades, with the Hawks acquiring SF Bojan Bogdanovic(84 OVR) and Toronto adding C Brandan Wright(82 OVR).

- The Cleveland Cavaliers trade PG Kris Leach(84 OVR) and PF Will Mayo(79 OVR) to the Boston Celtics for PF Jack Jamison(84 OVR) and PG Eddie House(82 OVR)-

The Celtics needed a true back-up to Mike Conley(90 OVR), and get the veteran Leach to fill that role. The Cavaliers take on the massive contract of the under-performing Eddie House, and get a big prize for themselves. Jamison is a former first round pick, who got no playing time behind starter LaMarcus Aldridge(91 OVR). But Jack still has 92 Potential at only 25 years of age, with plenty of time to grow into an elite big man. This is a low risk, high reward pick-up for the retooling Cavaliers, a guy who could be an excellent partner for Yao Ming(93 OVR) in years to come.

- The New Jersey Nets trade PG Trent Samuels(81 OVR) and 2010 1st round pick to the Washington Wizards for PG Chauncey Billups(84 OVR)-

After many years spent on subpar teams, Chauncey Billups finally gets his chance to contend at 34 years old, heading to the defending champions. The Wizards get back a 1st round pick that is only top five protected, virtually guaranteeing they will get to use it.

- The Milwaukee Bucks trade SG Jud Lyles(83 OVR) and PG Rafer Alston(75 OVR) to the Indiana Pacers for SG Justin Galloway(79 OVR), PG Vin Thomas(73 OVR) and 2010 2nd round pick-

Despite finishing second in the East last year, the Pacers lacked a true top shooting guard, and now get one in Lyles, who was behind Ray Allen(90 OVR) and rookie James Harden(85 OVR) in Milwaukee. The Bucks' main prize is the 23 year old Thomas, who has 85 Potential and is already an elite playmaker, hoping he will be their long term starting point guard.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(The Revolution Begins)

Last time on The New Millennium, the New Jersey Nets won their first championship in franchise history, defeating the San Antonio Spurs in a tough seven game battle. Now, the offseason is upon us and changes are coming.

Player Retirements

Biding farewell to the NBA this year were the likes of Alonzo Mourning, Jamaal Mashburn, Shawn Bradley, Nick Van Exel, Grant Hill, Jalen Rose, Aaron McKie, Antonio McDyess and Jerry Stackhouse. Rather surprisingly, no players were inducted into the Hall of Fame, despite some big names listed in there.

Draft Lottery

With the best odds, the Dallas Mavericks secured the first overall pick in this year's Draft. The Bucks were big winners, getting the second pick thanks to a trade made with Phoenix two years ago. Despite the third best odds, Seattle fell all the way to sixth, while Houston, Cleveland and Detroit rounded out the top five.

2009 NBA Draft

1. PG Stephen Curry, Dallas Mavericks
2. SG James Harden, Milwaukee Bucks(Harden now backs up Ray Allen in Milwaukee)
3. PF Blake Griffin, Houston Rockets
4. PG Guillermo Alvarado, Cleveland Cavaliers
5. PG Ricky Rubio, Detroit Pistons
6. SG DeMar DeRozan, Seattle SuperSonics(Absolute steal here for Seattle)
7. SG Matthew Weaver, Boston Celtics
8. SF Tyreke Evans, Utah Jazz
9. SF Richard Sharp, Miami Heat
10. SF Jimmie Lydon, New York Knicks
11. PG Marvin Levins Jr., New Orleans Pelicans
12. PG Brandon Jennings, Minnesota Timberwolves
13. C Marion Geiger, Philadelphia 76ers
14. PG Shannon Starks, Washington Wizards
15. SG Itsi Bajza, Denver Nuggets
17. PG Jeff Teague, Portland Trail Blazers
18. PG Ty Lawson, Vancouver Grizzlies
19. PG Jrue Holliday, Portland Trail Blazers(I don't get why Portland drafted two point guards)
22. SF James Johnson, Charlotte Hornets(WTF)
23. PG Darren Collison, Toronto Raptors
28. SG Danny Green, Los Angeles Lakers(Another steal)
33. SG Wayne Ellington, New Orleans Pelicans
37. SG Jodie Meeks, Sacramento Kings
38. SF Omri Casspi, Milwaukee Bucks
40. PG Patrick Mills, Houston Rockets
45. PG Patrick Beverley, Los Angeles Lakers
50. SF Dante Cunningham, Los Angeles Lakers
51. SF DeMarre Carroll, Vancouver Grizzlies
56. PF Taj Gibson, New Orleans Pelicans

Free Agency

Here are the players who switched teams in free agency:

PF Zach Randolph(88 OVR), Dallas Mavericks, 4 years, 124 million dollars
PG Jameer Nelson(88 OVR), Denver Nuggets, 4 years, 80 million dollars
SG Allen Iverson(86 OVR), Charlotte Hornets, 3 years, 79 million dollars
SF Shane Battier(86 OVR), Seattle SuperSonics, 4 years, 54 million dollars
PG Lance Marks(85 OVR), Utah Jazz, 4 years, 52 million dollars
PG Jason Coles(85 OVR), Seattle SuperSonics, 4 years, 72 million dollars
SF Rashard Lewis(84 OVR), Denver Nuggets, 3 years, 37 million dollars
PG Cliff Hobbs(84 OVR), Philadelphia 76ers, 3 years, 32 million dollars
SG Wally Szczerbiak(84 OVR), Denver Nuggets, 4 years, 51 million dollars
PG Anders Freriksson(84 OVR), Phoenix Suns, 4 years, 38 million dollars
C Nene(84 OVR), Minnesota Timberwolves, 3 years, 37 million dollars
SF Bert Felder(84 OVR), Minnesota Timberwolves, 3 years, 35 million dollars
PF Lamar Odom(84 OVR), Golden State Warriors, 3 years, 46 million dollars
C Joel Przybilla(83 OVR), Toronto Raptors, 3 years, 25 million dollars
PF Yi Jianlian(82 OVR), Los Angeles Lakers, 3 years, 31 million dollars
C Zaza Pachulia(80 OVR), Chicago Bulls, 3 years, 21 million dollars

Way Too Early Predictions

I definitely think Dallas should improve a lot, after getting Curry first and signing Zach Randolph. They need a top big man after letting Shaq walk, but do have a surplus of guards to trade away and try and turnaround the team very quickly. Milwaukee will be a contender with Harden backing up Ray Allen, and Seattle looks really good, now adding DeRozan and Battier. Denver made the playoffs last year, and should be a lock for next year, picking up three big names in free agency. Cleveland may be back to the doldrums next year, failing to draft an impact player with a Paul Pierce trade imminent.

2010 Draft Preview

There are three big names at the top of the class in Kentucky's John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins, who could go one and two. But keep an eye on Paul George, who could be the best player in this class. Later down the draft board, there are still more solid players in the likes of Gordon Hayward, Hassan Whiteside and Eric Bledsoe.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(Nothing but Net)

Last time on The New Millennium, the Lakers and Bulls were once again the best in their respective conferences. With former champions like the Pacers and Raptors not far behind, both teams will face tremendous fights to reach the promised land. Who will claim the ultimate prize and win the 2009 NBA Championship?

First Round

Out West, the Lakers faced the dominant young big man duo of Sherman Conway and Kevin Love, but were able to eliminate the Nuggets in five. Golden State took out Portland to advance, with the Kings got a tremendous series from Chris Paul, who helped push San Antonio all the way to five, only for the Spurs to pull out the victory. In the conference's biggest upset, Vancouver took out the Clippers, with veteran Mike Bibby posting 17 points and 12 assists to win Game 5.

Meanwhile in the East, LeBron James gave the Bulls all they could handle, but Chicago forced several key turnovers late in Game 5 to survive. Orlando took out Milwaukee and New Jersey eliminated Toronto, with Jason Richardson scoring an impressive 31 points to win the decisive Game 4. And in the biggest shocker of them all, consistent playoff performers in the Indiana Pacers went down in five games to the Charlotte Hornets, as young Daniel Gibson came off the bench to score 20 in 22 minutes. What a world we have created.

Second Round

The West was far from competitive in the second round, as Los Angeles and San Antonio both easily won in 5, eliminating Golden State and Vancouver. The East was a different story. The Magic would give the Bulls another very hard fought series, but Chicago won, this time by offense, as Jamal Crawford hit several clutch threes to win Game 6 and advance. The Hornets were itching for another upset, and had a late lead at home in Game 6, looking to force seven. But Jason Richardson continued to cement his legacy in Nets lore, drilling the game winner to book New Jersey's spot in the Conference Finals.

Conference Finals

There was no slowing down New Jersey, who only grew stronger throughout these playoffs. They punished the Bulls on both sides of the ball, winning in a sweep with three of their four wins in double digits.

The Spurs and Lakers traded wins in the Western Conference Finals, but San Antonio stayed a step ahead, and were up 2-1, setting up Game 4 on home court. There, the Lakers posted a whopping 147 points, with 57 coming from Kobe Bryant and Joe Johnson. But they had yet to face the full might of Tim Duncan. The Spurs legend, constantly denied success in this alternate reality, took complete control in the paint, posting back to back double-doubles to send the Spurs to the Finals.

NBA Finals

In New Jersey to start the series, the Spurs brought the Nets' momentum to a screeching halt, as sixth man Jackie Singleton came from out of nowhere to drop 39 points in an easy Game 1 victory. The Nets would get their revenge in Game 2, tying things up.

Despite 37 points and 18 rebounds from Dwight Howard, New Jersey won an overtime thriller in Game 3, as Jason Richardson recovered from a slow start to take control late. But the war continued on, as Howard and Duncan had double-doubles to win Game 4 by 7 points.

The Nets came out firing in Game 5 on their home floor, scoring 43 points in the 1st quarter, and San Antonio never recovered. New Jersey was one win away from their first title, as the series went back to the Lone Star State.

In Game 6, Jason Richardson just couldn't get into a rhythm, going 5-16 from the floor in a 9 point loss. For only the second time in The New Millennium, the NBA Finals would be decided in Game 7.

But in Game 7, it all fell apart for the Spurs. The normally calm and fundamentally sound team imploded, committing 21 ugly turnovers and failing to score 90 points. On the other end, former first round pick Jamaal Teague put on a show, scoring 27 points and grabbing 15 rebounds en route to the 26 point win. In front of their home fans, in their first NBA Finals appearance in this alternate timeline, the New Jersey Nets are NBA Champions!

NBA Finals MVP: Jason Richardson(20.9 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 4.6 apg)

Yet another brand new champion is crowned, as the Nets have certainly reversed the course of history with this win. In real life, they had back to back trips in the early 2000s, but couldn't get the job done either time before eventually bolting the state. But New Jersey is rewarded with a champion in this timeline, a welcome sight to so many die-hard fans. Join me next time on The New Millennium for the 2009 offseason.

NBA 2k19: The New Millennium(King is Born)

Last time on The New Millennium, the Miami Heat finally got their Dwyane Wade replacement in young stud Derrick Rose with the first overall pick. Guards continued to be the story of the offseason, as Allen Iverson was trade to the Sacramento Kings to pair up with Chris Paul while Steve Nash was sent to the Cleveland Cavaliers. How will these changes affect the 2008-2009 regular season?

Eastern Conference

1. Chicago Bulls(55-27)
2. Indiana Pacers(51-31)
3. Orlando Magic(45-37)
4. New Jersey Nets(45-37)
5. Milwaukee Bucks(45-37)
6. Toronto Raptors(45-37)
7. Charlotte Hornets(44-38)
8. Atlanta Hawks(44-38)
9. Washington Wizards(42-40)
10. Philadelphia 76ers(42-40)
11. New York Knicks(38-44)
12. Miami Heat(37-45)
13. Boston Celtics(34-48)
14. Detroit Pistons(31-51)
15. Cleveland Cavaliers(31-51)

Two constants of this series finished one and two, as the Bulls beat out the defending champion Pacers to once again finish atop the East standings. The Magic got a stupendous season out of sixth man J.J. Redick(18 ppg) to achieve a high finish, while LeBron James(30.2 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 8.2 apg) won his first MVP and willed his team into the playoffs. Philly just missed out in their first year without AI, and rookie Derrick Rose(15.7 ppg, 6.7 apg) turned in a solid effort to get the Heat out of the basement. That unfortunate distinction went instead, shockingly, to the Cavaliers. After this last place finish and years of underperforming, trade rumors involving star Paul Pierce have begun to gain steam.

Western Conference

1. Los Angeles Lakers(51-31)
2. Los Angeles Clippers(49-33)
3. San Antonio Spurs(43-39)
4. Golden State Warriors(43-39)
5. Vancouver Grizzlies(42-40)
6. Portland Trail Blazers(42-40)
7. Sacramento Kings(42-40)
8. Denver Nuggets(41-41)
9. Minnesota Timberwolves(40-42)
10. New Orleans Pelicans(39-43)
11. Houston Rockets(39-43)
12. Utah Jazz(35-47)
13. Phoenix Suns(34-48)
14. Seattle SuperSonics(32-50)
15. Dallas Mavericks(29-53)

The City of Angels had a lot to celebrate, as their two teams clashed throughout the regular season, with the veteran Lakers eventually winning out. The Nuggets could be a big threat, literally, featuring two quality young big men in Sherman Conway(18.8 ppg, 8.8 rpg) and Kevin Love(18.6 ppg, 7.3 rpg). Despite a late season push, Minnesota still missed out, despite Kevin Durant(23.9 ppg) making his first All-Star Game. Seattle got a great year from Rajon Rondo(14.7 ppg, 8.4 apg) but still lack a true star, while the rebuilding Mavericks bottomed out, at least putting them in position for a good draft pick.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Just like last year, the Lakers and Bulls are the top two seeds, with both looking to reverse recent playoff struggles. Other contenders include the Pacers, who have won two out of the last three titles, Atlanta and Golden State with stars LeBron and Melo, plus teams featuring great big men like San Antonio, who have Tim Duncan and Dwight Howard.
